From Evergreen Fire 9:20pm: Mop-up is underway for a shed fire in Parmalee Gulch. That means firefighters are uncovering any remaining hot spots. It’s a hard and dirty part of firefighting, and an essential task. Meyers Gulch remains closed from Hwy 74 to Inca. There is no threat to the neighborhood.
Crews starting to break down hose, leave the scene for the evening. They will return tomorrow morning to check for remaining hot spots, mop up as needed.

This could have been much worse.
Last night around 8:20 p.m., JCSO deputies responded to a reported fire on Meyers Gulch Road. Multiple callers reported smoke and flames, with flames reaching approximately 20 feet.
When deputies arrived, they found a shed on fire very close to a home.
Deputies confirmed no one was inside the home, then used fire extinguishers and dirt to slow the fire and keep it from spreading to the house until Evergreen Fire arrived.
Evergreen Fire took over and fully extinguished the fire.
The cause remains under investigation.
Thank you to the residents who called this in quickly, our deputies who acted fast, and Evergreen Fire for getting this fire out before it became something far worse.
