Calif. May Require Gay History Lessons

Sunday, 17 Apr 2011 11:21 AM

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The state Senate has approved legislation that would require California's public schools to include gay history in social studies lessons.

Supporters say the move is needed to counter anti-gay stereotypes and beliefs that make gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender children vulnerable to bullying and suicide.

Opponents said it would burden an already crowded curriculum and expose students to a subject that some parents find objectionable.

Cool beans. So students can talk openly about Alexander the Great and other famous homosexuals and lesbians, and even homosexual warrior cultures like Greece, the birthplace of democracy.
Sounds like a great idea to me.

Why not?

Since the United States is by far the worlds leader in education regarding science, mathematics, and literature - not to mention physical education, whats the harm in spending time on something so crucial to a childs education?

It's "special"...
How else will they know about Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
And how will women pick out a wedding dress if they aren't showed they need to hire a gay man.

Didn't someone out in lala land also push for teaching transexual history as well? Why can't we just say " John or Jane Doe did this back in blah blah blah" But no, no we have to say "John Doe who was gay, did blah blah..."

Why do accomplishments have to be associated with who you are sexually attracted to? If we found out that Einstein was gay, would we then have to rewrite history books and insert "gay" when describing his accomplishments?

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy

Think it would read John Doe wanted to be Jane doe, so he went to a High priced Dr and had his dinger removed and now he lives in a mental home trying to figure out if heshe is happy with that.

Sorry, the Purple was for sarcasm.

We are no longer the world leader in education. If I remember correctly the U.S. ranks 10th or so (and falling) out of 30+ developed nations in producing college grads.
