Why Germany Has It So Good -- and Why America Doesn't

AspenValley,

Apparently my ex-wife (nor her parents one of which was German (Step-Father)) must have known what to do. She was a French citizen, moved to Germany when she was a toddler, and retains French citizenship to this day. She recently married a German citizen and her child will have German citizenship. Funny thing is that her brother ended up having to join the French military (mandatory) when he turned 18 (I think), and couldn't speak French! They stuck him in some scrub unit with everyone else who couldn't speak French for a couple of years.

Nmysys,

My handle is just a nick-name. Good guess, though. I am retired Army.

kresspin, congrats on your move to Germany. When will it happen? And you must be very well off since most other nations require a new immigrant to prove how they will not burden that nations welfare programs.
