Obviously Nancy Pelosi knows how to tell all of us what to do. But that she is better than the rest of us. She knows how to get her 'people' taken care of!
More than 90 percent of ALL waiver requests have been approved by the HHS. These particular businesses simply applied for a waiver. The waivers granted, exempt them and many others, the annual coverage limits mandated by the health care reforms passed last year. The waivers typically go to restaurants and other companies that offer "limited-benefit" health plans. They will expire after one year.
Limited-benefit plans are often used to cover part-time and low-wage employees, and they typically have low premiums and high deductibles. HHS began granting the waivers after insurers threatened to raise premiums dramatically or drop their coverage all together rather than pay for the additional coverage required under the reforms.
I wouldn't say you're dumb, maybe just a bit biased
These min-meds plans are really not a good deal anyway. A better option/choice should be a low cost catastrophic plan and HSA at similar cost.
The problem of min wage employees and employee health plans still has not been addressed in the HC law. How is a company going to afford a 13.7K family premium for a $15K worker? It doesn't add up.
According to PayScale, fast food workers make a minimum wage of $7.24 per hour, or around $15,000 per year pre-tax working 40 hours per week. That is just slightly more than the average employer-sponsored health insurance premium for family ($13,770 in 2010).
The Problem with Mini-Meds: "Employees are Not Given a Choice"
The real problem with mini-meds is that low-wage employees are not given a choice between mini-meds and real catastrophic health insurance.
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
It's all perfectly designed to take down our freedom of choice by crushing the insurance companies and putting full control in the hands of government....they are just too dishonest to tell us the end game.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
Oh NO!?!?! Taking away your freedom-of-choice?!? How could they!?
Perhaps they will finally wise-up someday and we'll have a Medicare-like single-payer system, and EVERYONE will be covered, including those who opt-out of having insurance (but can afford it) because they're "healthy now"... At least Gingrich knew that mandating people to either have coverage or post a bond was the way to keep from having the system supporting the uninsured at the emergency rooms.

Frankly I like my freedom to choose and make decisions for myself. Don't need another to think for me.
And what is the difference between the system supporting the uninsured and illegals now as opposed to a Medicare-like single-layer system? There is always Sweden waiting for you LJ if that is what you want.

What's the difference?...The difference would be that instead of everyone having to try to find affordable health care on their own and propping up the "for profit" vultures (who are more interested in profits than your health care), you would have everyone paying into the system, and the system would be on better footing.
You are ALREADY paying for the uninsured and the illegals that show up at the emergency rooms...It gets passed on to you in the form of higher premiums. HELLO!?!?! Is it better to have EVERYONE paying in to cover the cost, or put it on the backs of those than can afford policies, and let the freeloaders get away for free?
And, by the way, Sweden is #23 in the world health care rankings.... USA is #37...
