hate crimes

Let's see. Some kids are arguing. Then they start pushing. One falls over, hits his head on a rock and dies. How is that a hate crime?

Why is it that a "Blood" that shoots & kills a "Crip", isn't charged with a "hate" crime?

Instead of getting rid of bigot comments and crimes, by NOT bring undo attention to the crime. Keeping the people against one another, and if it's a life sentance, without parole, what's the point to make it a "hate" crime.
I don't know but during the last L.A. when we all saw the black dude, smash that white truck drivers head with a brick, charged with a "hate" crime? Bet NOT!

Killing a president, supreme court justice, a cop, threatens our entire society in a way that has more consequences to the country or local jurisdiction. Look at Mexico where killing the police has turned into a slaughter and there is little regard for the laws of that country.

I guess I'm not getting where this thread is going. I thought a hate crime was a crime (assault or murder) of another person merely based on that person's race or religious beliefs. Not sure what your examples have to do with that definition but maybe I missed the turn somewhere.

I did not make myself clearly understood. I believe that "hate" crime classification is imposed upon those accused of a crime because of the members of the establishment prosecuting the case want to hurt the accused. They are showing their hate toward others by wanting the crimes prosecuted as a "hate" crime and imposing additional punishment. Their righteousness is motivated by hate.

Violent crimes all involve motive. "Hate" crimes add penalty for some motives but not for others. Motive has always been used to establish innocence or guilt, but to add is as part of the crime in some cases but not others is wrong IMO.

OK, Agreed, Thanks, except HOW is to know what's in a man's/women's heart when said crime is committied. Which leads my back to the "Blood"/"Cripe" example. Why aren't those hate crime? Because it's a Black on Black crime, (I know I''ll be labeled, by somebody has to talk about the elephant in the room). It does not explain why it's not a hate crime if a "Mongal" kills an "Hell's Angel", nor a "Bandidos" kills a "Blood" They all HATE each other what the difference?
But if a white dude (not in a gang) kills, a black dude (not in a gang), while the white dude is robbing the black dude, it's a hate crime, Bullsh*t!
But if we switch the places (black dude killing white dude while robbing him) It's NOT a hate crime, WHY?????
If a White Power dude, and a Black Panther dude punch each other out, no witnesses, Cops show-up both are on the ground out cold. Who gets the "hate crime" charge?
Also will the threat of a "hate crime" charged add to other charge the hatered of any of these groups? NO

It's lame, and pc gone amok again. IMO, There are a lot of "Hate Crimes" commitied, but very few charged that way, and should be taken off the books. Stupid is as stupid DOES!
