Obama flat out lies for another scare tactic.

But back to the original point, if 80% of the people want higher taxes on the rich, why did the TEA Party win so many seats in 2010?

1. No, the portion of the budget going to the military is much more than that when you look at ancillary expenses like obgliations to past and future vets for medical care, etc.

2. Besides the Koch brothers, how many Tea Partiers do you think are "rich"?

Besides, is it really a case of people "wanting" to tax the rich or of realizing that cutting the taxes on top income earners as far as Bush did was disasterous to the deficit?

I think it would be great is NO ONE had to pay higher taxes, unfortunately, cutting taxes hugely and just continuing to spend just doesn't work in the real world, magical thinking of some Reagan worshippers aside.

Texas is doing great because of all those cheap-labor illegal aliens!

Really? That makes no sense! So how did they keep their unemployment rate under 8% where it is today far below the national average if they are employing all of these illegals and not real American citizens? That doesn't hold water. California has the most illegal immigrants in the country so based upon your theory, why is their economy the worst in the country where they are almost bankrupt, and their unemployment and debt the highest in the nation? Because of Liberal policies compared to Conservative policies. Plain and simple.

If you were looking for work or to start a company that you wanted to thrive, and you had to choose between Illinois, California or Texas where would you choose?

It's not all smoke and mirrors. Just do your homework, Viking. The Bush tax cuts REALLY did a number on the deficit, especially combined with the unaddressed systemtic economic problems that have been left unaddressed for decades.

It's really easy to rant about "wasteful" programs but it doesn't solve the basic problem. I don't think there is a person here who likes to pay for "wasteful" programs. We may differ over which we think are worthwhile and which are "wasteful", but no one disagrees that we'd like to see government spending less.

But unfortunately, even if we cut out every single "wasteful" program, and even ones we all agreed were NOT wasteful, we still can't get rid of the deficit without either a) causing deliberate, severe inflation in order to "inflate away" the debt or b) raising taxes.

In fact, the likelihood is that it's going to take both.

Oh that video is bunk and those quotes must come from "Fauxnews"..ah, or, Bush is in Texas and he's manipulating the data somehow cuz he's so dumb...or, ah...I think of something else in a minute.

Oh ya, they are only doing well because of evil oil barrons! ....I think.

BUT, they NEED to raise taxes so they can go down the toilet with the rest of us...Ya, that's the solution for Texas!

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Actually it is Viking that is flat out lying about scare tactics. According to Gallup, which is a well known unbiased polling agency as opposed to Rasmussen, 80% of Americans believe that the deficit can only be reduced with a combination of cuts and taxes, just as President Obama stated. Only 20% believe that the deficit can be reduced with the Republican plan.

Why do you have to flat out lie about these things?
