The Jeffco teacher I know has a Master's, has been there for 10+ years and is making 60K a year with summer off. She could make more working during the summer but likes the time off. Not too shabby plus PERA which promises a 7% return every year on their pension plan which is a benefit that would be very expensive to give out in the private sector. Maybe it could be 100K with benefits and if you based the wage on a 52 week year.
Little side note: Equal pay for equal effort for teachers? Not in her case, she started in a poor Adams County district with bad pay, horrible conditions, and trying to teach many minorities English first. But once she had the experience, she moved on up to Jeffco.
