You are contradicting your earlier statement quoted above. I believe he was referring to IRS published income brackets and percent of total taxes, so yes it is actually true.

I agree and have posted in other threads that I am in favor of keeping rates low and reforming the code to eliminate a lot of the abused deductions. You are right in that some wealthy do pay less in taxes because they can abuse deductions and shelters, but on average the IRS brackets he posted are accurate.

And back on topic, the post is about the democrats realizing that they can't keep their campaign promises and all taxes are going up up up!

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.

Thats OK. They will get the poor with the VAT taxes, Cap & Trade legislation, and even Excel is soaking the poor with their new 2 tier rate system. Nothing like denying the elderly air conditioning because it costs too much.

We are already well past the tipping point, enjoy the ride to hell.

I agree - we are well past the tipping point now, it's just a matter of bending over and bracing for the impact.

Yes - they will get the poor with increased medical (mandatory in 2013) , social security, Medicare, etc. The State and local governments will also get the poor with increased license, registration, and generally any other fee they can raise. Things like water and sewer bills will be jumping up as electric rates increase.

Part of the problem with special district governments is that they can vote to increase the costs they pass on to residents. At least with my well, the costs are generally fixed. Still - even with a well - our water bill goes up with electric costs every time the Governor signs a bill that favors more expensive electric options.

The problem I see with income taxes is that the lower wage earners are (were) mostly excluded. The want to tax the higher earners more. It's those higher earners who spend that money for things like cars and furniture, luxury items and vacations - they are the ones who ski more in the winter.

You can only get away with squeezing them so much before it begins to affect the lower earners in a big way. We are starting to see this now. A higher earner who is taxed more may be likely to spend less on dinners out for instance. This directly affects the waitress - who finds less earnings in her pocket.

Like I said - unless the lower earners start to see the big picture - that higher taxes for anyone - is bad for everyone, we are in deep crap. It's also the attutide that the lower earners can't or won't ever do better - finding themselves in a higher tax bracket. Covetousness is the cancer of a socialist.

Once they are done fleecing the most productive earners- they will need to move on to the rest of us - an un-tapped resource up till now.

Unless the policy of slashing government prevails - the new wave of taxes will hit the bottom 50% the hardest.
