Our economy is slowing again at a much quicker pace

Did you ever consider that you are living a self fulfilling death wish?

JMC- I didn't create the environment that is the most vicious attack I have ever seen on the producers of this country. I didn't create the class warfare that is being perpetrated against anyone who creates wealth. Obama did this. The Democrats are going along with it.

I'm gonna lay low- and if I have to I'll John Galt my way out. I will not continue to support a socialist America, you guys are on your own.

Just a suggestion, which I'm sure you won't take.

But I think you'd cheer up a lot if you threw away your Ayn Rand novels and read something a little more rooted in reality.

Or even some Stephen King novels.

Almost anything would be better for your mental health than her gloomy, self-pitying dreck.

But anyway, I'm sure it will cheer you up to know that we'll do just fine without you even if you decide to do a John Galt. Too many drama queens around these days as it is. :)

If anything is rooted in reality- it's Ayn Rand.

And I'm not self-pitying, if you don't see the gloom out there than you need to get your head out da sand!

I'm not gloomy though- I've been getting ready for what's about to happen, so I'm better prepared than most people I know. It just amazes me how many people are not ready, I would highly advise you all to read Atlas Shrugged, because she nailed it smack dab on the head.

I don't think opting out of a failing economy is doom and gloom, Rand herself describes the way to get out and start anew with like minded people. We'll leave all you socialists to the dismal life you helped create.

I'm just amazed how it is all happening exactly the way she described!

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves Orcs."

BearMtnHIB,BearMtnHIB,BearMtnHIB....

Of course you're self-pitying if you think Ayn Rand's novels represent reality.

They are nothing OTHER than self-pitying.

(Okay, well, they are also thuddingly boringly written, full of leaden cardboard-cutout characters and breathtaking examples of sociopathy, but let's try to stay on topic here...)

I see the gloom alright, my friend, but I can't agree with you on the causes. And you needn't worry that I'm unprepared for it. I've seen it coming for at least 30 years and have made my plans accordingly. (I know, you weren't really worried, you were rather hoping I'd soon be gasping and dying and starving in that "socialist hell" you imagine I belong in.)

I've read not just Atlas Shrugged but all of Ayn's fantasy novels, and many decades ago. I can't deny that they have a certain appeal to the youthful ego, but generally one matures out of the delusion that one is a Superman.

As to opting out of a failing economy? Do what you feel you have to, but if I were you I wouldn't count on money stuffed in the mattress to do it for you alone.

See ya on the other side, if you make it there.

Has anyone ever defined, 'a buttload'?

Nevermind. Found it.....

metric buttload (n.),
1.2.4710439 English buttlodes.
2.the capacity of the platinum-iridium International Standard butt, which is housed in Sevres, France, along with the platinum-iridium kilogram and the old bar with the scratches that used to be the standard meter.

1.A large amount, possibly a variant of boatload, or perhaps refering to a large container known as a butt.
2.A large amount, originally refering to a large container, butt.
