They're all over the ground!? In the National Forest. You can find coal too..I found big lumps of it right under the surface near the tracks, or where the tracks were. I threw one in a camp fire once..You can't burn it like that..It produced a lot of smoke and smelled really bad. Put that piece of info in your memory bank

National forest = belongs to the country, not to you. The law was put into effect a long time ago, when people were stealing all the native american artifacts and selling them, desecrating sites and so forth. In effect since we were little children, VL. Something you should know for the future.

You are correct about coal - don't try to put it into your standard woodstove either - it will damage it. You also may have been trying to burn a clinker- what coal and charcoal can form under high heat; basically a condensing of the metals and other rock that may be contaminating the coal if it was not a pure piece. Clinkers won't burn, but they sure as hell will smoke bad and smell bad. Clinkers would also be found along the track as they allowed them to cool and then tossed them. Plus coal did fall off the coal cars. Interesting fact - people used to send their kids out to the tracks to pick up coal after the trains passed to save money.

Littleton Museum has a blacksmith on saturdays (and weekdays during the summer, I'm just not sure what days.). Ask them to see a clinker, and see if it compares. Or ask one of our local blacksmiths - I know at least one of them does old school forging as well as new school.

Now I'm curious - did it look like this: http://www.chemical-engineering.co/wp-c ... 7/COAL.jpg

Or this?: http://star-bits.com/ID/locomotive%20co ... inker2.JPG

Ooops, Sorry VL I misunderstood your first post when I said STFU.. I take it back. I thought you hacked 285bound passwords here and you were trying to blackmail us. Now I see you were talking about Twitter or something else.

Still seems lame to sell access to a free site, but carry on, whatever. I don't do all that Twitter Facebook nonsense. I spend too much time on here as it is.
Have fun. :)

As if! lol And we  you for that! But, just a suggestion, a Facebook account (or Twitter account now), and Friending 285Bound, will give you access to information about 285Bound in the unfortunate event that we have technical difficulties and go down (sh** happens you know!). Plus, we have Friended every 285 Corridor business that we can find who has their own Facebook page so as to support them and let our friends know of them, and get their feeds/info. It's yet another we to support our local community. If anyone knows of any other businesses that we have missed (you should be able to check our entire list), please let us know! (oops, I'm kind of going off on a tangent here - probably ought to start a thread about our FB page and Twitter account!) :threadJacked: :Whistle :Thank you

Even if VL had my password there isn't much he could do with it except post here as me; I make my passwords site specific and ensure they are at least 8 characters long but sometimes 14 characters long with upper and lower case alphas, numbers, and special characters. Can my passwords be cracked, sure but be prepared to spend some time doing it (read months). That is why I also change them on a regular basis. Please quit feeding the troll and adopt more secure practices with your own passwords, eventually you'll be glad you did or suffer the consequences of a compromised password.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
