How our military has already been cut since 1990

I, like many, don't think they get paid enough nor do they get the ongoing support they not only deserve, but have earned. I'm sure, however, that like any large program there are areas that can be cut and/or improved and waste that can be identified.

No arguement here, I agree. There is a few that if they started doing right away would save money. One is the constantly changing of uniforms. My impression is that there are some E9's sitting around with nothing better to do. Leave the damn things alone.

Then there is a few bases that could be closed overseas, that really could be combined with other services.

The wars well I am not fond of them, they are drawing us down. Can we just up and pull out, as much as I wish we could, we cannot.

For all those that have said Obama lied when he promised to get us out of Iraq and Iran.....I think he has done the only honorable thing by trying to bring the wars to a close responsibly, with the support and counsel of his generals, and without putting our troops at risk. It's easy to make a promise when you are running for office....but if, when you become president, your promise would cause our military and our country harm, then you do what is best for the country.....period.

Ain't that the truth. Uniforms are a joke on a cosmic scale but it pales in comparison to many others. Recent Inservs come to mind. After 15 years retired I am letting my subscription to Navy Times lapse. It is starting to hurt too much too read it.

I just last read on Military.com, how the service chiefs are talking how they do not have the proper funding for parts and maintenance. The Ops tempo prevents doing alot of maintenance on ships etc. I do not remember ever having that problem. We would do the maintenance regardless of the op tempo. My last 3 years with only 90 days inport, we got it done, but we also knew the consquences of not getting it done, and I am not talking about legal bs either. Effects on the ship readiness.
