The history of breast feeding goes back to society. In the 50's formula (which was supposed to be for those who could not breastfeed) was mass marketed and more than half of women stopped breast feeding and using formula. I believe that is when the notion that breast feeding was vulgar in some minds started.
It seems that we have been trying break that notion ever since. It is an unsaid feeling we all get from some. No one talks about it but the views out that there that breast feeding is no big deal is the problem. I feel this has much to do with us as a society not taking how important breast feeding is and the formula comment (if it is true) illustrates that.
Working for some women is just a reality in today's economy. We have to help each other out. And it would not have been that difficult. Jeez, people demand cigarette breaks and they don't complain about that.

I don't know what the original poster had in mind, but I have heard some people say they don't think breastfeeding women should be at work, they should be at home with the baby "where they belong". That could be construed as a conservative point of view to some people. Also there does seem to be a bit of prudery about breasts.
Well, if they don't think they should be at work then help them pay their bills. I think most would love for that to happen but not everyone can do it. what if the father disappeared or something? (happens) It is hell being a working mother.
Did they cut their whole computer education program? She was the only tech ed person. So unles they cut that whole program - which I highly doubt - then it's an excuse. OR to get rid of her, they rewrote the position to include teaching a class she is not qualified to teach. I've seen that happen before, corporate and educational.

And the way they are going, they will be. People tend to forget that there is no Constitutional right for equal rights for women. We could be back in the "bad old days" really, really quick, especially if a lot of people who think women should be submissive to men get in power.
