Traveling Back to the Future on Intercity Buses

"Not long ago, I wrote about how the private sector outraces and laps government. While governments dither and dispute, the private sector discovers.".....................................................................................................................................

"Now across my laptop comes news of another area in which private sector actors have overtaken government. Again an older technology has been improved and adapted to fill a need, while government dithers.

The old technology in this case is buses.

While the Obama administration has been desperately seeking to spend $53 billion on so-called high-speed rail lines, private businessmen have developed Chinatown and Megabus lines that provide inter-city service that has attracted legions of price-conscious travelers."

Now you know why Obama was on a bus last week.

Wow, when did $ 1.1 million bus for one individual become a price-conscious traveler. That's almost the same $ per capita as the bridge to nowhere in Alaska... wow no outcome from the libtards.

Oh, the Bridge to Nowhere. The one Sarah Palin was FOR before she was against it? That one?

You brought it up. I didn't. I just commented on what you mentioned first. But since you did...

In September 2006, during her campaign for Governor, Sarah Palin visited Ketchikan to express her support for the Gravina Island Bridge (Bridge to Nowhere) project. At a public forum, Palin held up a pro-bridge t-shirt designed by a Ketchikan artist, Mary Ida Henrikson. The legend on the shirt was "Nowhere Alaska 99901", referencing the buzzword of "Bridge to Nowhere" and the primary zip code of Ketchikan. In her public comments, referring to her own residence in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, she said: "OK, you’ve got Valley trash standing here in the middle of nowhere. I think we’re going to make a good team as we progress that bridge project" in response to an insult expressed by the state Senate president, Ben Stevens.[19]

In October 2006, when asked, "Would you continue state funding for the proposed Knik Arm and Gravina Island bridges?", she answered: "Yes. I would like to see Alaska's infrastructure projects built sooner rather than later. The window is now – while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist."

You support Palin so you must have also supported the Bridge to Nowhere until she changed her mind.

OK, Sarah didn't get to vote on the Federal funds on the bridge (if the state paid for the bridge I could care less)...in any case, did the bridge get built? Did the bus get built?
