It's not the "progressives" who are afraid of other religions and other classes of people.

Seriously? Are you that blind? That poster speaks to everyone on both sides of the current liberal/conservative bitchfest.

Here is a typical email I get from a rightie in Tennessee. I think this is a perfect example of what Wayne was referring to in his original post.

SOCIAL SECURITY CHANGES

It does not matter if you personally like or dislike President Obama. It
is already impossible to live on Social Security alone.. If the
government gives benefits to 'illegal' aliens who have never contributed,
where does that leave those of us who have paid into Social Security all
our working lives?

As stated below, the Senate voted this week to allow 'illegal' aliens
access to Social Security benefits. Attached is an opportunity to sign a
petition that requires citizenship for eligibility to that social
service.

Instructions are below. If you don't forward the petition and just stop
it, we will lose all these names.

If you do not want to sign it, please just forward it to everyone you know.

Thank you!

To add your name, click on 'forward'.. Address it to all of your email
correspondents, add your name to the list and send it on.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When the petition hits 1,500, it is up to you to send it
. else, it will not be sent.
PETITION for President Obama:

Dear Mr. President:
We, the undersigned, protest the bill that the Senate voted on recently
which would allow illegal aliens to access our Social Security. We demand
that you and all Congressional representatives require citizenship as a
pre-requisite for social services in the United States .

and then followed a long list of people that had "signed it" and sent it on.

Having received this on August 16th, I responded (with the post below) to the whole email chain as this guy doesn't know how to BCC emails

The first thing that got a “hmmmmm” response from me was the sentence “the Senate voted this week”. The Senate is in recess.

By simply Googling the first sentence: “As stated below, the Senate voted this week to allow 'illegal' aliens access to Social Security benefits.”, I was able to find this debunked easily.

debunked from 2007

The furthest back that I was able to find that debunks this is 2006

Please don’t just regurgitate what you hear or read. Use your God given brain and research it before you mindlessly forward it on.

Oh please, give me a break. Your "progressive" friends have nothing but vitriol for Christians and "teabaggers". It's pretty rare to find a liberal who will argue policies and ideology without attacking and painting groups like the Tea Party with a broad brush. When you claim to know who the "lunatic fringe" is, you may want to look within your own side with an open mind....if that's even possibe.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Both sides are quite intolerant. And while people think the hard left or the hard right is in charge right now, really it is pretty much the same, both sides spending our way over the falls.

Heard something last night from a Texas supporter of Ron Paul, seems Rick Perry has signed off on big budget increases in Texas. So another guy touting himself as a fiscal conservative who isn't.
