Like you people heard the case or something? For all you know the "burglar" was a block away running from the scene when he was shot in the back. In America, you can't kill another person unless your life is being threatened..Can we all kill jaywalkers now?

Who are we to say the property owners did not fear for their lives? Tweakheads can do some pretty severe physical damage.

Exactly-You aren't, the judge and jury are..Thats how it works in America. Respect it, or GTF out. We don't judge cases in this country after just glancing over slanted articles about them.

Even if it's an outside shed and the property owner's life is not in immediate danger.

i don't care where a thief is on my property. If he is there stealing my things, then he gets nailed. He has no business trespassing private property. Since when do I have to be threatened with bodily harm to defend my home and safeguard my possessions?

Colorado law is quite specific on what that entails: I believe it is an armed person confronting you...

It's NOT someone crouched down inside a shed behind a closed door with no weapon in their hand.

So it's ok to kill a High School kid cutting through your yard to get to school one day?

Rock..Step back and take a long look at yourself my friend. Look at what you've become in your old age

If someone has entered my property with the intent to steal my property, what personal harm may come to me if I catch them? We all know that witnesses have been killed because of their ability to identify the criminals, how am I to know if this is or is not one of the thieves who will do this kind of thing? How do I know that the person hiding in the shed refusing to come out when commanded to do so doesn't have a weapon in their hand waiting to shoot the first person who opens up the door? These uncertainties can, and should, make me fear for my life as well as the life of any LEO that is called to the scene. How do I know that their running away at the time will protect me from them coming back later to do me harm? Witnesses have been killed to prevent them from testifying, right? Why should I have to live with that fear when it can be removed from the list of possibilities by making sure that the thief isn't breathing when they are removed from my property?

You can argue that with the judge at your murder trial.
