President Obama’s jobs speech scheduled for Thursday night before a joint session of Congress will get a lot of attention but it remains uncertain what impact the speech will have on the troubled labor and financial markets.
On Friday, the Labor Department reported that the U.S. did not create a single job during the month of August, while the unemployment rate remained pegged stubbornly high at 9.1%

Any one want to bet that no matter what he proposes the GOP will say no. It's in their best political interest to keep unemployment high for another year.

Unless he's developed super powers there's nothing he can say to create jobs. (i know Dems think he has them already) That's up to industry and they have no incentives to hire Americans. We cost too much.

How can you say that? Every Republican candidate is running on how only they can create jobs. Surely they wouldn't lie to us.

Yes, but that's not a new job. That job has been in place since the 2008 campaign.

It seems to me that if all it took to create new jobs was for the POTUS to go on TV and talk about it we'd have too many openings to fill and virtually no unemployment. Waiting three years to do anything meaningful about the employment situation in America is criminal.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

This will be another one of those speeches where he set someone else up for the blame, aka archer already blaming republicans for what they may do. lol Nothing meaningful or positive has yet come our of his term in office so far. I see no reason for it to change now. Already he announces that he will not reveal everything he has in mind. Oh the suspense of what he will not reveal already is killing me. <extreme sarcasm> As I see it, when the brain is empty of ideas there is little to be revealed.... unless he wants to form coops and put everyone to work on farms or in those government owned businesses.

Rockdoc, I based my opinion of what the GOP will do on their past performance. They are, if nothing else, consistant in their desire to bring Obama down no matter the cost. They have made that goal very clear from day 1 of Obamas presidency. It surprises me that you never noticed that.
