Can a president truly become irrelevant?

To sane people, it's replying to posts. This is a discussion board, after all.

To the paranoid schizophrenic, it's stalking.

I remember Newt Gingrich saying in 1995 that Bill Clinton was irrelevant. That sure worked out well for Newt, didn't it?

If he's become irrelevant, it's because in today's climate of rabid partisan bickering, the whole office of President has become irrelevant. As far as I can see the governance of this country has become totally, hopelessly, dysfunctionally gridlocked.

Maybe if Obama actually took a hard stand on his "principles", he would at least be relevant to the flaming left. Obama is not a leader.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Maybe you're just used to Bush's "only my way" blunt type of leadership? Obama is much more of a compromiser, listening to both sides before reaching a decision.

Maybe I'm missing your point. Obama seems to be someone that pisses off both sides equally. Bush just pissed off the liberals, yet he was a guy that never seemed to take opposing viewpoints into consideration. His image was of a guy that made up his mind and not amount of information to the contrary would change it.

On the other hand, Obama seems to consider more viewpoints than George did. To me, that seems like a wise leader.

If you think differently, I would like to hear your reasoning rather than just :rofl

Bush pissed of conservatives including me because he is not one.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
