An unconfirmed confirmed threat is like a semi-boneless ham, it has bones but it doesn't; it can't be both. That much aside, there are plenty of organizations and governments who wish the United States of America harm who also have the financial and technical means to act on their sentiments.

Large power outages in the southwest are of concern and it makes me wonder if it is misdirection or if it is an actual operation put in place to disable monitoring of the southern boarder. I suspect that if there is an actual threat any real hostile actors have been in CONUS for some time and have been quietly assembling their personnel and weapons for a couple of months, hell they probably got here legally using tourist visas.

Regardless, please make note of anything you see or hear that seems out of place and notify law enforcement if you feel that your observations warrant reporting it. Something trivial that seems odd to the average citizen may prevent a catastrophic tragedy; if it turns out to be nothing I'd rather know that the issue was investigated and dismissed as harmless.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Good point. Except they never called it an unconfirmed confirmed threat.

No the authorities didn't but you did in the title of your thread. I'll admit to being a grammar and diction Nazi, it's trivial and has no impact on the real issue at hand.

What is more important here is making the public aware there is a potential threat and to report unusual events that they observe to law enforcement.

Oh,I see now. I think it's government doublespeak left over from the Rumsfeld era: "We can confirm that we have an unconfirmed threat."

I agree with you, Wayne, on the confirmed, unconfirmed.

Except for people who were kids or not born when 9/11 happened, who wouldn't be more cautious on this 10th anniversary? Oh, right, those without common sense.

What a bunch of crap this is all just a scare tactic. Nice Obama. where is Rosie and Rozanne and the libs that bitched and bitched about Bush.

If there were a real threat, the government wouldn't be telling anyone about it.

....in your opinion.

Turns out the outage that blacked out power to millions of people was due to one guy...

"The NBC News twitter account was hacked late this afternoon and as a result, false reports of a plane attack on ground zero were sent to @NBCNews followers. We are working with Twitter to correct the situation and sincerely apologize for the scare that could have been caused by such a reckless and irresponsible act."
