Interesting....my husband got a photo ticket same place same time frame and I know he does not speed in construction zones. He used to be a traffic control supervisor and is very aware of the danger. He also said they were taking constant pictures and everyone seemed to be passing him as he drove the speed limit.

We hadn't planned on paying it...but since we did go online maybe we will rethink that.

I pay strict attention to all speed signs, know that others are always flying by me when I do stay at the posted limit and am totally shocked at the ticket. Any info would be appreciated. BTW, there were no Photo Radar Used Signs anywhere.

I drive that every day. Minivan, blue "photo radar ahead" sign. Tough to see, but there. During construction it appeared to be filming a movie sometimes. Speed limit was way low, even when no actual construction was happening. You aren't the only one. I think Sheridan finally paid for their city hall during that construction!!!

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

Thanks all for the information. Actually it is a photo radar ticket from the City of Denver, was apparently at the intersection of Federal and 285 (Hampden) eastbound. I truly do drive the speed limit and follow the rules as best as I can. Traffic at 8:30 in the morning is heavy and 90% of the vehicles were passing me, as usual. I'm not trying to get away with anything, but unless I accelerated to get through the light because it changed to yellow, I really don't see how I could get caught speeding there in the construction zone. From just before Kipling to that point I was literally driving on cruise control to stay at the posted 45MPH speed limit, it dropped to 40 for the last 1/2 mile to Federal and I kicked off the cruise control by tapping the brake, as I always do, and it appears from driving there again yesterday, that their must be photo radar cameras hanging on the cross beams of the poles holding the traffic signals.

The reason I started the thread was that a friend told me about that particular news article that says it must be presented to you in person by a police officer, and I wanted to see if anyone else has had the experience. Besides, maybe someone reading this will avoid a photo radar ticket there in the future, as a result of reading this thread.

Interesting. It was in the news recently that fed court ruled that you can video tape police on duty (very big deal).

It will be interesting, as stuff like this only provides an advantage to the 1st party with the technology for a little while (the police) because in the medium or long run, it is the police that will be forced to record their every action before we are forced to record all of ours as citizens...all so they can record some of ours now.

Kind of like that increased security and efficiency of the computers and the internet...both a distant memory, like the jobs they killed.

I got the same thing, about a month or so ago. I know I was maybe 5 over if they are lucky, but I called and questioned it. Was told that since the portable camera (located in a van) with the message on the van, it is legal. I went ahead and payed it.

I would question a ticket from the city of denver at that intersection. I believe (could be wrong) that would be in the sheridan area, not denver area. May even be littleton.

I am curious, could you set up a civilian speed trap (this is just purchasable technology right) and put it on 285. Record and when ever you see a police officer pass by exceeding the speed limit, coordinate that via public records to see if he/she was on the way to a call...if not, couldn't the officer be charged with driving to endanger? Just wondering.

Or I guess the equivalent would be to present the officer with such evidence and give him a chance to pay you a fine in order to not have charges filed and the whole thing go public.

Hmmm. There are so many crimes that if done by the gov. are no longer crimes but are now public service. Like the lottery.

Or perhaps we should face up to the fact that speeders cause more damage to our society than terrorists and treat speeders the same way we treat terrorists...or even just suspected terrorists. Even those that just go 5 mph over and usually don't and used to be cops, etc.etc.etc.

Q: How many months before speeding is simply recorded via your car GPS and the national network of known speed limits and all tickets are just automatic? I am guessing 60-100 months, any bets, any takers?

I do think it is important to remember that most of our rules were written pre-internet and pre-alotoftechnology and they would not be written the same way if we knew that everyone was going to get caught, including the guy writing it.
