Lets start by remembering this was not the DOD but DOJ, the same guy in charge that is suppose to be the top cop in the country (or top law abiding guy right). But it always comes back to DOD and why would that be. Lets cut all the crap, lets start cutting the budget and there are defense budget items that can go, then what we leave all the rest of the dept's to spend spend spend right cause it is the DOD fault for everything. Some need a serious reality check. and need to get your facts straight.

DoD, DoJ... Who's counting which agency is spending the money? Besides, I thought the left was all for spending taxpayer's money. Now I am getting confused, it's somehow ok for the Democrats to spend and barrow every last buck they can lay their hands on and NOW the left gets indignant about Gubment spending?

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus

She thought it was DoD. Military spending is always fair game for the left.

As someone who used to plan a LOT of conferences, prices in general for refreshments are highway robbery. Fifteen bucks a person for what amounts to a cup of coffee and a miniature Danish were not at all unusual, and that was 10-15 years ago. I'm betting prices for catering are even higher in D.C.

With bigger government, comes more waste and corruption. This shouldn't surprise anyone, it's as sure as night following day.

And this comes only months afer this --->

"As we work to tackle the budget deficit, we need to step up our game," Obama said in a video announcing the Campaign to Cut Waste. "No amount of waste is acceptable -- not when it's your money, not at a time when so many Americans are already cutting back."

Keep you eye on the muffins.....ignore those weapons and murders in Mexico....muffins, .....yes,.... muffins......

$47 for lunch in Denver? I eat out for a week on $47. And ironically I bet my meals are tastier than the usual hotel fare.

I will note, however, your fixation with cutting defense spending caused you to overlook the fact that this was the Justice Department, Eric Holder's group of privileged elites, and not the Department of Defense. Now, if you are trying to make the argument that we can do with a little less interference from the Justice Department I might find some agreement with you there.

I was just thinking the same thing...misplaced and uniformed outrage.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

That's probably true. The problem with conference catering is they have you over a barrel if you don't want people to have to spend two hours leaving the hotel and searching for their own lunch. Also, the costs of catering sometimes build in the cost of the meeting space. In other words, they charge per head for that coffee and danish but by paying the inflated prices for food you get a "free" meeting room. It's not as simple as it sounds.

Consider the source.

This is great for the DOJ. Let's keep talking about muffins....
