Come again? I said it was a shame they had to resort to commercialism to make up for lost public funding, not that it was "okay if you are doing it for the right reasons".
And I can't agree with the second part of you comments at all. Capitalism, like any other human endeaver, has a darker side and yes, some expressions of it are definitely less admirable than others. For instance, the brand of capitalism that exploits the environment and doesn't pay the true cost of the damage would be high on my list, forcing the costs onto all of us in the form of health risks. Or forms of capitalism that exploit the health and safety of their employees. For instance, in some points of its history, capitalists employed children as young as six years old in mines and dangerous mills. I guess by your statement you are okay with that? And if I'm not you would say I was "hypocritical"?

Some dems to the same thing they just label it differently. Al Gore?? PETA has no problem using Porn to get money for their endeavor. At least the capitalists are honest about it. LOL Hypocrits. They are using whatever they can but if it is for a 'good' cause (they decide what is good) then it is okay. End justifies the means. Taxing soda and cigarettes is great because sugar and cigarettes are evil. That is not freedom. Same with the whole happy meal law. We do have to protect people from society but this is going way too far. MM is fine but cigarettes aren't? I guarantee that if this show were religiously slanted then you would not be okay with it. Before you call me a religious nut job remember I am not religious I am a couple steps from being agnostic. I just see it more nuetrally. All they should be doing is providing programming you can't get anywhere else. That is the only reason to have public TV. If that cannot provide that anymore because this is about money or social issues then it is not worth it anymore. Listening to Mr. Roger's and what he was trying to do. PBS is sliding farther and farther away from that. I would not give them a dime until they tell me what their mission is.
