“I had a chance to meet a young man named Robert Baroz,” the president said at a midday news conference. “He’s got two decades of teaching experience. He’s got a master’s degree. He’s got an outstanding track record of helping his students make huge gains in reading and writing. In the last few years, he’s received three pink slips because of budget cuts. Why wouldn’t we want to pass a bill that puts somebody like Robert back in the classroom teaching our kids?”
Two problems: Obama never met Baroz. And Baroz remains happily employed.
I know why he does this, it's just like people on these forums. You try to make a point by embellishing, exaggeration, and even made up lies as the only way to assert your position and convince the skeptics.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
stretching the truth is more technically correct than liar.
” Baroz said. “It was technically correct; yes, I did lose my position three times within four years in the Boston Public Schools. To me, the question he posed to the people was a rhetorical question. The emphasis was on ‘like Robert.’ It’s people who are like me, highly qualified, and are not working. That’s the spirit of it.”
But it is a fun outrage of the day when nothing else was available.
Let's all dance around the truth instead of addressing the issue. Either Barry met with Robert Baroz or he didn't. Barry lied or it actually happened so which is it? Based on what we know it seems to me Barry has some 'splaining to do...
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford

It is technically true that Obama had a chance to meet Baroz. But the closest Baroz actually got to Obama was the front row of a Rose Garden press conference on the jobs bill in September, with a handful of other teachers. He later met with White House aides and Obama’s education chief, but never met the president.
I rather liked this explanation, Obama did indeed have a "chance" to meet Baroz. But since Obama's staff did meet with the man I really don't see the outrage in using the story.
This is all silly, presidents and other elected officials use these stories all the time to make a point, we all use the technique here on this message board, and the only time it becomes an issue is if someone from the other party does it.....then it's an outrage. If your own party does it, or a poster you agree with does it, no big deal. I will, however, remind you of this the next time a Republican uses an anecdote that is not 100% true, or a conservative poster here tells one of the many lies some are prone to.....
But. like I said, when nothing more important is available, it does make a great outrage. Enjoy!
Either Barry met with Robert Baroz or he didn't. Barry lied or it actually happened so which is it? We are being lied to or there is more to know, if we are willing to settle for these weak deflections from the current administration what else are US citizens being lied to about?
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
