If the top 1% control 42% of the wealth of the nation, why shouldn't their tax burden be 42% of all taxes paid????

The top 1% already pays about 40% of all taxes.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I was going by this from pineinthegrass. Going from 29% to 42% would be far more than is currently being proposed, and would make taxation more equitable.

pineinthegrass wrote: As a result, the top 1% pays 29.9% of all income taxes. The middle 20% pay 6.2%. In fact the lower 60% pay just 5% of all federal income taxes (due to the lower 20% getting 2% back).
