He's also incapable of winning an election.

That should tell you something...

Ditto... Ignore the OWS movement at your own peril...

Oh, I don't ignore them, I just don't believe anger with no actual positive ideas does anything for the betterment of our country. Kind of like listening to you LJ, you spend 95% of your time trashing people here, yet once in a great while, you actually make a positive statement about something you believe in. If you would spend 95% doing that, and 5% trashing people, you might actually make persuasive arguments. This is the same thing with the OWS people. A vast majority are whiny entitlement kids. I have heard a few that actually have some good ideas. The problem is, the "gimme" group wins out. I can't imagine someone running and winning an election based on taking more from a group and giving it to those who don't earn it (Oh, wait, I'm wrong, that is what our current pres ran on) Forget that. I'm sure one of the OWS people will challenge in 2016....if we still have a functioning economy by then.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

Maybe we need younger, more charismatic, moderate independent without Wall Street ties.
Then again someone without Wall Street ties won't have to cash to mount a national independent campaign.

Obama ran as a Indy, but showed his true colors.

Unless I miss my guess, the goal of the TEA Party was to reduce government spending, reduce government intrusion, and repeal ObamaCare. I don't think it was actually about getting rid of those who had been in DC for a while nearly as much as it was about reminding all of them that they were there as representatives of the States and their citizens more than they were there as representatives of a given political party or lords of the general government deciding the future for the peasants.

You might not be really thrilled about Gingrich, but he was the Speaker of the House the last time there was a surplus (at least on paper) in the federal budget. You might not be excited at the prospect of him being the Republican nominee, but you can bet your last fiat Roosevelt dime that he has enough experience with being a leader, as opposed to simply an organizer, that he'd be a better choice than another 4 years of the current executive.

Face it Viking - if Gingrich wins the Republican nomination you are going to hold your nose and cast your vote for him. He might not be your first choice, but he's a better choice than the alternative.

Well I personally consider Newt to be a real conservative, and I think some of the things he's been saying recently are an effort to portray himself as more of a moderate.

If you have ever listened to his lectures (I have) - the man does know what conservative economics are. He also does not need a team of consultants around him (like Obama) to explain how the house works- after being speaker of the house you can bet he knows all the tricks.

I actually think he would make a decent conservative president.

The real question about Newt is has he learned his lesson and will he toe the TEA Party line?
I agree with the statement above that he will know his way around Congress much better than Barack "Present" Obama does.

But remember Gingrich did rub enough Republicans wrong that he lost his Speaker job after 4 years.

No, he lost his speaker job because he broke laws and then lied to Congress about it... (In the "real" world that SHOULD have "rubbed enough Republicans the wrong way" in and of itself...But since we know most Republicans wouldn't know "wrong" if it bit them in the nether-regions, it's enough that he was caught doing something illegal, fined $300,000 and removed.)

...And as I've previously stated, PLEASE let Gingrich win the nomination. There is no way that anyone that bat-sh*t-crazy and Tax-Evading-Aristocrat-identified has a prayer of getting elected. The opposition-material writes itself.

No one has written opposition-material like Obama. You just wait LJ- this is going to get really nasty after the Republicans have their guy picked out.

Obama is going to get slapped around like a red-headed stepchild- and it's going to be fun to watch.

Barry has just as much of a chance of re-election as Carter had in 80. Any of the candidates in the debates can beat Obama and that includes Ron Paul.

All you socialists are going down!
Yep- I used the word socialists.
Good luck in the contest.
