Newt’s War on Poor Children

04 Dec 2011 12:56 #11 by Wily Fox aka Angela
newt just has this "air" about him where he is always talking down to everyone around him, like he is the ONLY one that has the intelligence to understand what he is saying. While I find that annoying just in an everyday way, I find it particularly so when he attacks the poor as he did. Instead of offering any empathy or ideas to help the poor reach up and find a place in this society, he offers only that the poor kids need to get to work and oh yeah, make it not selling drugs. His indifference and obvious lack of any understanding really pissed me off

I agree... and I would take it one step further... there is certainly no understanding or empathy when it is suggested that ANY kid, poor, white, black or otherwise needs to get work and not sell drugs.

Newt does seem to have a condescending tone, but so does Obama. Remember the clinging to guns and religion comment? Newt just tends to be more frank and less pandering.

Truth bothers liberal. You don't need facts or figures to know that people (anyone, any color or race) who are in unfortunate family situations, and IF they don't have supportive role models available to them then they can repeat and carry on dysfunctional cycles. This is not a new revelation. We've been hearing this for years, how the alcoholic in the family can cause the alcohol abuse repeat itself in members of the next generation from the family, how the drug abuser in the family can cause drug abuse to repeat itself in members of the next generation from the family and we see the same cycles in physical abuse, verbal abuse, spouse bashing and so on. We've been hearing this from social workers, psychologists, teachers, journals, world bodies... the list goes on.

Make believe outrage from the left.

Replied by Rick on topic Newt’s War on Poor Children
I started working on my parents Arabian horse ranch shoveling crap when I was eight and driving the pickup by twelve. Since I don't have a ranch, my kids have been working since that young doing whatever I feel they can handle around the house. My kids will be ready to work and hopefully not end up like OWSers.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

My kids are OWSers and trust me, they work their butts off. One is an electrical engineer with his own business that employs 12, the other works with disabled kids. Their friends are a chef, an auto mechanic, a carpenter and a cyber security expert. You guys need to get out and meet some of these people instead of relying on the MSM to feed you your talking points.

Two weeks ago I was on the street with the Occupy San Francisco crowd, interviewing them, talking pictures, conversing with them, for an assignment. All I found was hacking, coughing, sick, dirty, drunk, stoned people yelling at each other, complaining about thefts of personal belongings and saturated by homeless and mentally ill stragglers. SO... your kids have been on the street occupying something?

They go down after work and on weekends. I'm sorry you guys are so blinded by the news media and it's reports that you can't get behind another populist movement than your own. We all want the same thing. Unless you guys like that the banks walked off with our economy. I'm beginning to think that must be the case.

'If you listen carefully, I'm very much involved with the 99%. I've been condemning the one percent because they've been ripping us off.
