Headline juxtapositions....

You have to gasp in wonderment at the juxtaposition of some headlines...

'Dismal': One in two Americans are now poor or low-income

U.S. CEO Pay Jumps Minimum Of 27 Percent Last Year, Survey Finds

American Airlines CEO: Company Will Cut Jobs During Bankruptcy

American Airlines Owns A Townhouse That May Be Worth $30 Million

Of course, since I already know what the "compassionate conservative" sociopaths will say, (and blame the poor and low-income population for their own situation), I realize it's a wasted effort.

"...Are there no prisons?....Are there no work-houses?"

Another thing I read this morning was that almost 70% of the increased corporate profits of the past year came from slashing rank and file worker pay and benefits.

I can understand needing to control labor costs but when you are posting large profits and giving yourself huge raises it just seems obscene to be taking money from the people that make your business run.

And yeah, I know what the sociopath contingent will say, too, and they can kiss my grits.

And this is happening under an Obama administration!!!! Impeach the guy right now!
Either BHO is incompetent or working for the Man.

Gasoline is selling for over $3 a gallon, is he also working for the oil companies? And food prices are increasing too, is Archer Daniels Midland sending Barack kickbacks too? Afterall, President Obama does come from Chicago, where bribes are the norm, ask Blago.

Aside from the somewhat racist flavor of that comment, it's the only thing you said that had any hint of truth in it. Trouble is, the guy before him was, too, and the guy after him will be also.

It's slang that was often used by blacks in the 1960s to refer to a white caucasion male (or groups of males) in a position of power. It could be seen as racist on at least two levels. One, if you subscribe to the theory that referring to while males in that way is racist, or two, if you are applying it to a black President and saying he is really working for "The Man", you might be seen to be implying that a black man couldn't be in a position of power unless with the covert approval of a white male or group of white males. In other words, it's saying he's a "token" or "puppet" black man under the control of white males.

The urban dictionary and Wikipedia both basically disagree.

Whatever, Jack.

I know you guys all like to pretend racism went extinct like the dinosaurs.

However, I think most of us over the age of 45 know damned well what is being referred to when someone says "working for The Man" when referring to a black President.

Even though I know it's a waste of time with most of you to even bother to rebutt, this is from the Urban Dictionary:

The Man

1. n. (derogatory, semi-proper) Term used to describe any class of people who wield power and are seen as oppressive. See also whitey, big brother, corporate america, the establishment
