Lighten up Francis! Just having a little bit of fun, but you should know some of the most infamous athiests were leftists.
Like Obama, "clinging to guns and religion".
And consider my other point, why do athiests choose to make their biggest splashes on Christian's most popular holy day?
Can't they protest outside Mecca during Ramadan instead? Or fly planes with messages over Jerusalem during Passover?

Well just consider when you are broad brushing atheist as lefties, you're managing to put a WHOLE lot of conservatives into the same pot. Sorry if you don't like it, but there are more atheist and agnostic conservative than you probably would be comfortable with. You lighten up. And even among the believing conservatives, there are a good number who wish the party would put some of the non-political social issues on the back burner and actually stick to running the country, not running where I stick my sausage.

Because we are in America. Because we are Americans.
One reason might be because it is not just on the Christian's most popular holy day, it is for almost two months before that. Xma$ season starts right after Halloween and by Thanksgiving, it is in full swing. It is not just one day, the corporations have stretched it out and made it so our country is dependent on the commercialization of the Christian's most popular holy day for our economy that even if Christians wanted to take it back and make it a truly religious holiday, they couldn't at this point. Xma$ is too big to fail.

And why I liked the original incarnation of the TEA Party was because it was about taxes and overspending and ignored the social issues. The Republicans will need a big tent to beat Obama, and I welcome conservative athiests who will vote against the Dems.
But I am not a militant atheist either, and the ones I see putting up these exhibits are attention whores.

Did you read the article? Where did you get this quote from... "Look at me!!!! Ha ha, I am stealing your park permits on your favorite holiday"? DId you make that up? And nothing was stolen. It was a lottery, fair and square. Explain to me what was stolen? You not an accurate commenter either. I hate the lies.

The Tea Party ignored the social issues... for what... 3 minutes...

I agree with much of what you say on most issues GOP. I'm also a conservative....and while I'm more of a confused agnostic (I don't think we magically rose from cosmic dust), I just don't see a reason to go to battle over a long holiday tradition that most of the country seems to enjoy once a year. I like the way people seem to be a little nicer to each other...even if for a short time.
So my question is, are we going to have to make these battles every year more and more? Of all the problems and hate in the world, what do we have to gain by attacking the traditions that actually brings people together once a year? I have no problem with different groups putting up different symbols throughout the year, but I do have a problem with people going out of their way to tarnish religious traditions just to be confrontational.
I guess I just don't get offended or feel threatened by beliefs and traditions I may not share. What I do share with Christians is a greater sense of love for my friends, nieghbors, and family around Christmas time. I hope that never changes due to the "your beliefs are wrong" attitude that seems to be spreading.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I'm not bothered AT ALL by Christmas displays. What I am bothered about is for a good number of years now, it's been a battle between the putting up public displays on public property or not. Well, now that the religious interests are getting back some of what they had in the past, they suddenly don't want to play fair. They are the ones that have been complaining about fairness. Now that they are being accommodated, it's damn them to allow any other interests to be given the same consideration. Hypocrites.
That's the part that pisses me off. Everyone should have some chance to express their opinion ABOUT this time of year as much as those who want to express their opinion AT this time of year.
Some people, apparently, need to spend way too much mental energy on worrying about what the atheists are doing instead of celebrating their own holiday season however they would like.

If it bothers you, don't pay any attention to it.
Good point. However, isn't that like asking someone to stop watching a bad car accident, they can not look away?
