Vote Obama – if you want a centrist Republican for US presid

How does that go? Humor needs to have an element of truth to be funny?

"The Republican presidential primaries – shortly to determine who will be the finalist to face off, and likely lose, against Barack Obama next November – has been a particularly base spectacle. That the contest has devolved into an embarrassing clown show has many causes, beginning with the fact that GOP voters loathe Mitt Romney, their belief-free, anointed-by-Wall-Street frontrunner who clearly has the best chance of defeating the president.

In a desperate attempt to find someone less slithery and soulless (not to mention less Mormon), party members have lurched manically from one ludicrous candidate to the next, only to watch in horror as each wilted the moment they were subjected to scrutiny. Incessant pleas to the party's ostensibly more respectable conservatives to enter the race have been repeatedly rebuffed. Now, only Romney remains viable."

I did see one poll that has both Romney and Newt beating Obama in a squeaker. If Romney wins, and pretty much continues Obama's policies, will LJ attack him for dong so?

I'm having a hard time understanding how Romney could beat Obama (in a squeaker or not) when he barely polls at 25% of Republican voters. The math just isn't working for me.

Republicans will walk through fire to vote Obama out no matter who the nominee is.... and it looks like Obama has lost many Indys that helped get him elected. Remember the die hard Hillary fans that had to hold their noses but still voted for the guy with zero experience.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Well, he has the experience now (good or bad). At this point I think an Indy candidate would take more votes from the GOP candidate.

If choosing between Obama and Romney, the GOP is betting their base will still vote for the (R) rather than staying home. Plus many independents, moderate Republicans and Democrats found out that Obama was an empty suit who didn't have a resume.

But...if the economy continues to show small gains and unemployment continues to fall to 8%, I think Obama has a good chance to hold on. America doesn't like to change horses in mid-stream unless they think the horse is actually drowning. Lincoln held on, FDR held on even though the Great Depression continued through his four terms.

I'd be happy with a Repub House and Senate and Obama as long as he is on vacation more than he is in Washington.
