Obama picks immigration reform advocate to lead domestic policy
By Amie Parnes and Erik Wasson - 01/10/12 03:30 PM ET

President Obama has picked a strong advocate of immigration reform to head his Domestic Policy Council.

The White House announced Tuesday that Cecilia Muñoz, a former senior vice president of the National Council of La Raza, would replace Melody Barnes at the top of the council. White House press secretary Jay Carney announced the appointment during his press briefing.

Muñoz is now serving as the White House's director of intergovernmental affairs and is in charge of outreach to state and local governments.

It figures, haven’t his most progressive supporters been complaining that Obama hasn’t been pushing the progressive agenda hard enough? This is his way of showing those folks that if he gets a second term he will be their guy. Watch out if he gets that second term he’ll make FDR look like a conservative.

La Raza is a racist organization. This appointment is like appointing Malcolm X or David Duke to the same position.

No, it's not racist...It is an organization that supports pro-immigration policy for Hispanics...

But thank you for your concern.

If you had any reading comprehension skills, you would have seen in the OP that the organization is the National Council of La Raza which is a very benign organization that promotes (legal) immigration reform and equal opportunities and education for citizens who are Hispanic. Seems to be a solid background. I don't see the problem.

If you had any brains, you would understand that I was wondering why Grady would call the National Council of La Raza racists? There is more than one group that uses the general title of "La Raza" and the "Raza Unida Party" is also know as La Raza AND THEY ARE RACISTS. You're so stupid you didn't even know that... did you. So... I was simply trying to find out if Grady was confusing the National Council of La Raza (which is not racist) with another organization that is know as "La Raza".

Shot yourself in the foot again... didn't you?

P.S. Here... get a little education for that little brain of yours.

Partido Nacional de La Raza Unida (National United Race Party) is an American political party centered on Chicano supremacy. The party was termed La Raza ("The Race") in reference to the Mestizo people.[1] During the 1970s the Party campaigned for better housing, work, and educational opportunities for Mexican-Americans. The political ideology which gave birth to La Raza Unida Party, and which sustains it, is that of nationalism - in its fullest, most progressive, and democratic form, not in the limited, narrow sense of bourgeois nationalism.
