That is so cute, thinking you can protect your privacy by "turning off" the camera. Try take screwdriver and set it against camera, take other hand and tap with reasonable but not excessive force. The problem is the other 7 cameras they don't tell you about.

But this guy is right, don't post what you don't what to explain later on the internet....anyone want to get together so I can explain my posts?

The lethal part is that we are trusting by nature. We all know that nothing on the internet is private, but for example our bank and cc's tell us it is safe to bank over the internet....then you sign a form saying if anyone hacks in you are liable for $50 of the cc fraud and $500 on an debit card (or vice versa). We also all know that if someone actually uses your id and password and plays with your bank account (which I am sure good hackers can do), you have already agreed that there is no recourse, if the money is gone, legally, you took it.

I wonder how GOP feels about people reading his mail. It is only protected by a this slice of paper and some water sensative glue/adhesive. This seems like less security than 100's of promises from the largest companies in the world.

You know that we could vote the internet private. We simply have not yet. The only reason the internet is not private is that we say it does not need to be. It is the laws around the internet that say it is ok for things to be public or the conseqences of making something public that was private are not big enough to discourage people from doing it or there are not enough cops. This is the same reason that the mail is "private" there are laws around such things, there are steep consequences, you need warrants, and there is a massive police force that would jump on you if you did.

So I understand that newspapers that are sent through the mail are public and that sealed letters are not.

Why have you accepted the exact opposite philophy with the internet...it is the same communication, the same messages, the same risks and thus should have the same morals....but the moral us citizens put a 180 on the regs around the internet.

Why are you ok with haviing your emails opened by other companies and the government, but are not ok with it happening in the mail....

GOP's arguements on here would make it ok for the mail to be opened by others (don't worry, I don't have high expectations for him, but he does post a bunch)...simply if we had a rumor in society that it was done (like the internet). No company or govt directly says they read the content of our emails, but we all feel like they do and accept it. I imagine if you found out that the local sheriffs were reading your mail, you would start a thread in protest....but the local sheriff is likely reading all your email...and apparently even looking through your web cam.

I think it is funny to think that people actually don't cover or ruin their web cam(s)....oh yeah, dont forget all the microphones in the computer....and your new TV and your cell phone (please don't tell me you have one of those new game machines that can tell where you are in the room)...and the camera on the cell phone (which we knew over a decade ago was being hacked by private individuals - this is not new...if you cell phone is in the room, the conversation is not private, maybe if you turn it off and remove the batt).

Why do we have a double standard because it is electronic? Change your settings to make your computer private, so cute.

I've been on the internet since the late 70's (DARPANET) when I worked for a company that did government work and we had access to DARPANET, which is the early version/model for the internet of today. I have been well aware of the privacy issues, for me it's like breathing, I don't put anything on the internet that I don't want seen by someone else. And in cases like banking and such, I am totally aware of the implications. I'm not worried about my internet usage... I know the rules and I play the game.

I'm not ok with any of that... but that's the internet. Use at your own risk! If you're not happy with it, stop using it. Kind of like TV... you don't like the programs... turn it off. You have the final control of the internet.

Waiting for Armageddon since 33 AD
