A Utah school district decided not to select a cougar as the mascot of a new high school partly because school officials and some parents believed the word is disrespectful to women.
I saw that... Our high school mascot was the Cougar...and I think we all survived without some frustrated overly-righteous parents getting bent out of shape....
My Catholic grade school mascot used to be the Trojans, then after condom sales increased, they switched to the Spartans.
:faint: One school had to change its name from Beaver College because kids were coming across interesting websites when they did google seaches for the institution, but cougar is pretty funny.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Funny how that works, Eaton High School in northeast Colorado selected the Beaver as their mascot and no one seems to have a problem with that.
EDIT - Ok, actually the mascot for Eaton High School is the Reds (they have a nice plains Indian brave on their website), how's that for PC? I still think the Eaton Beavers has a nice ring to it...
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
