No Need to Panic About Global Warming

I believe that humans probably do contribute to warming because we know CO2 is increasing (largely due to humans) and CO2 is a greenhouse gas. So I figure it's like if enough people pee in your pool, eventually the water will turn yellowish (hope I'm not getting too scientific here).

But I do think the topic has been way over politicalized by both the left and right. It's hard to sift through all the crap out there to find good unbiased info.

One of the ways I think the left has politicalized the issue is what that article addresses. I think many groups are exagerating the effects of just what might happen. Yes, if the sea levels increase that will be a problem for people living along the coast, especially if they are poor and can't move up higher or build levies. But that problem would of existed even without humans effecting global warming. Look at the graph I posted on sea levels to see what just Mother Nature can do. Bottom line is if you want your civilization to last a long time it's probably not best to locate most of the people next to the ocean, or build your capital city next to an active volcano.

Anyway, I do see some issues with the article as well. It's not very specific about some of the claims it makes and does not provide any links to support them. I'd like to see more about the claim that there has been no warming for over 10 years. I heard that claim a few years ago and when I looked into it I saw it wasn't a fair claim to make. Back then (maybe 2007, I think) there was a record high global temperature ten years earlier (1997 I think). It's not fair to compare all the years after to a record high. All those year were hot as well, just not as hot as the record. So if this claim in the article is the same one from a few years back, I'm not impressed. But I can't be certain because they don't cite a source.

So far as the people who signed it goes, I don't know most of the names but it's clear they are not all climate scientists, not that I think they have to be. Experts in other scientific fields can learn a lot about another science. Richard Lindzen is a climate scientist, and he's been questioning global warming for some time now. But they also have an astronaut and aircraft designer sign it?

They are not divorced from one another as you want to portray. Once again you have yourself involved in somehting you are totally ignorant about. Stick to pee wee football.

I find it incredibly interesting how so many with a political agenda are so ready to dismiss or deflect scientific opinion when it goes against the sacred cows you wish to create.

I know all about the CO2 flux which involves land sea and the atmosphere interactively. Jeeez..It's common knowledge, been studieing it for years..

Everybody knows that

This whole thread gives me gas, you can count on me to continue to contribute 110% of my daily Methane out put, enhanced by my fiber rich diet!

Frankly I somewhat surprised that no one is worried about the impending explosion of the Sun. "At the end of its life, the Sun will start to fuse helium into heavier elements and begin to swell up, ultimately growing so large that it will swallow the Earth."

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

I'm still waiting for one of our green-eco-nazi-terrorists-tree-hugging-trash-diving-plastic-saving-recycling-nut liberal to debate the points set out in the scientists letter? I hate to have to wait for Science Chic to come along and try to show all you liberal men up. I hate to have to wait for Lady Jazzer to come along and roger the thread.

Better hurry up and reply before the next big asteroid hits and wipes out a lot of the planet's life.

The good news is the dust in the atmosphere will counteract any global warming and those that survive the asteroid will have it nice and cool, if not freezing. :woo hoo:

We have come to visit you in peace and with goodwill.

Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!

I am fearful when I see people substituting fear for reason.

I'm afraid there is no alternative. In such a case, the planet Earth would have to be... eliminated.
