"Financial Ruin: What do you call a budget that boosts spending $227 billion, adds $329 billion to an already huge deficit, and does nothing to fix the entitlement crisis? If you're President Obama, it's called "fiscal responsibility."
In the message Obama attached to his 2013 budget, he claimed that he's "taken many steps to reestablish fiscal responsibility."
But his budget is a colossal monument to irresponsibility, continuing a deficit-fueled spending spree that will take the country ever closer to fiscal ruin."........................
It would be political suicide to cut entitlements right before an election. Obama is getting enough heat from seniors upset that the COLA's have been stopped or are very low right now.

Its mostly a political document. He did come up with a new "tax the rich" scheme, up to 43% tax on Dividends. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it, its mostly for campaign purposes. Yawn..
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.

In my opinion he has an easy path to victory. He should endorse his own debt commission and dare the r's to fight him on it. If they did, I think they be bounced out of office on their heads.
I wish he would look at the debt commission ideas, not sure I agree it would be popular though. Lots of cuts and entitlement reform. I'd be happy with most of it though.

The longer we wait the more it is going to hurt. His base would not like it but I think they would go along.
I would love for a bipartisan group to implement the entire Simpson plan after the election. Like said above, it is better to get things under control now.
...I just hope it isn't already too late.

"today I'm pledging to cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office. This will not be easy. It will require us to make difficult decisions and face challenges we've long neglected. But I refuse to leave our children with a debt that they cannot repay - and that means taking responsibility right now, in this administration, for getting our spending under control."
Nice to know he got spending under control... :bash
