Denver Post today, the goverment wants to ban the current vending machine offerings of soda and candy in schools bcause childhood obesity is at record levels.

Guess what? Coca Cola has been available for decades at schools and childhood obesity wasn't a problem. Methinks it is something else.

You do know that Coca Cola and most all other sodas have changed their ingredients from what they were for decades, right?

Good point, the HFCS vs sugar cane debate. But the cola companies may hold only partial blame. Part of it seems to be lobbying from corn growers & domestic sugar cane growers to increase tariffs on cheap foreign sugar cane.

And sugar cane based soda pop, which I prefer, is becoming available in stores again. The theory is that the body doesn't break down the HCFS as easily as normal sugar. My doc says if you are going to drink soda, drink cane versions.
