Another Crazy Republican Says The Pipeline Should Be Built

Oh wait! It's Bill Clinton!

"The extra cost of running [the pipe-line around the Sand Hills] is infinitesimal compared to the revenue that will be generated over a long period of time," Clinton added.

"So, I think we should embrace it and develop a stakeholder-driven sys-tem of high standards for doing the work."

Pay no attention to this guy, he's just one of those presidents that didn't know much about economics.

I guess he doesn't need the enviro vote anymore, and they probably aren't good at paying his large speakers fees. Follow the money, LOL

Isn't this what Obama's intent was in asking for time to make a decision? I believe he wanted time to find a solution that had less effect on the environment. The proponents of Keystone shot themselves in the foot on this by demanding that a decision be made immediately on the current path of the pipeline, not allowing for any alterations to that route. If Obama had approved that route I seriously doubt it would be changed later...it would have been full speed ahead on a path that was unacceptable to many. It's never a good idea to try and force someone to make a decision before they are ready, you rarely get what you want.

Obama's decision had already been simmering on the back burner for what, 2 years before a decision was demanded? How much longer would the current plan have been asked to wait in the wings for a decision? Why would anyone not wait for a decision on a current proposal before amending the proposal in a manner that would increase the costs of construction, maintenance and risk associated with a longer pipeline? If Obama was intent on rejecting the proposal on environmental grounds, why wait 2 years before doing so? Strong leaders make decisions in a timely manner, weak ones seek to avoid making decisions because someone may hold them accountable for the decisions they have made.

Now that Clinton has chimed in with some common sense, Obama will fold and suddenly say he thought about it and it's really a good idea after all....just watch. Then he will make another speech and pat himself on the back.

Has Obama actually said it's not a good idea? Or has he said we need to address all the issues before moving forward?
