Arpaio To Announce Results about Obama's Birth Certificate

Sheriff Joe Arpaio is making headlines again!

Arpaio scheduled a news conference Thursday to unveil preliminary results of an investigation, conducted by members of his volunteer cold-case posse, into the authenticity of President Barack Obama's birth certificate, a controversy that has been widely debunked but which remains alive in the eyes of some conservatives. Last year, Donald Trump most prominently revived the issue while entertaining a possible bid for the presidency.

[snip]

Speculation about Obama's birthplace has swirled among conservatives for years. "Birthers" maintain that Obama is ineligible to hold the country's highest elected office because, they contend, he was born in Kenya, his father's homeland. Some contend Obama's birth certificate must be a fake.

I myself have never been a "Birther," really never cared about his birthplace, documents or any of the "intrigue" revolving around this issue. But, as a thought experiment...

What if he's not a citizen? More to the point, what if he actually arranged phony documents. Obama has already tipped his hand by releasing material claiming to be authentic and reflective of his claims. If Arpaio is found out to be correct, then there is really no other explanation than outright fraud. I don't think anything is going to come out of it... but... ?

Officials in Hawaii (Republicans at that) have said repeatedly the documents are authentic. They are the ones who provided them to the President to release.

Don't you think they'd be screaming if the documents were fake?

The consensus here in Arizona is that this is the start of Joe's reelection campaign. He's had some bad press lately...the federal investigation/lawsuit and a local investigation looking into mismanagement by his office of numerous rape cases which has led to many calls for his resignation...he needed something to appeal to his base.

It's rather fun to watch Joe here...he really is a media whore.

Apparently Arizona Joe and his "investigative" team never asked the folks in Hawaii to examine the original documents that they claim they have. Even if Joe believed Hawaii would never let him and his team see the documents, it seems strange that he wouldn't cover his ass and at least request the documents. Methinks Joe is not as interested in the truth as he is interested in crafting the investigation only with positive information.

It would seem Joe came up with a big zero after promising shocking results. It's almost like he had to hold the press conference since he announced it even though he had nothing.

He should have consulted with Geraldo Rivera... He knows a lot about "big build-ups with no relevance." ("Al Capone's Vault" ring a bell?)
