Not so much.

Bill to drug test welfare recipients dies on voice vote
by Eli Stokols
March 29, 2012

No one called for an official vote, signalling that Republicans were content to let the bill, sponsored by one of their own, die.

The legislation, sponsored by Rep. Jerry Sonnenberg, R-Sterling, would have required anyone applying for welfare benefits or food stamps — and to pay for the $45 drug test up front only to be reimbursed by the state as long as the test result was negative.

Democrats, most of whom opposed the proposal, tacked on an amendment that also required state lawmakers and elected officials to take drug tests before receiving their pay and benefits, irking many Republicans.

Kinda a stupid waste of time.

Maybe legislators should not get paid for work on useless bills that don't pass and are only for posturing.

Pay for results only. LOL

So I guess it's not that important if the politicians won't get tested themselves...

Should those receiving corporate welfare also be drug tested? Makes just as much sense. For example those oil companies receiving $300 million per year in subsidies from the state of Colorado, should not their executives and employees, and yes even their shareholders be required to undergo drug testing? They are receiving benefits from the taxpayers of Colorado, even at a time when they are making record profits.

It might keep some of the stupider ones clean. And I know a probation officer who will hold one of his clients for hours if his drug test results are too clean. And then retest him after the cloaking substances wear off.
