Why Don't Young Americans Buy Cars?

Auto makers are worried about the Millennials. They just don't seem to care about owning a car. Is this a generational shift, or just a lousy economy at work?

They also don't care about sex, pro creation or anything except their ipods, internet, and smart phones according to a study I heard of on the news.
One young girl said physical sex is no where near as good as fantasy internet sex.
A friend calls them Zombies.

On the + side, maybe the population will go down and the gene pool will become better.

Interesting. Shows the difference compared to 20 years ago when I was growing up. A man was defined by his car.

I do notice more beaters running around, like kids see them more as transportation than as an extension of their being.

Might just be a healthy change for the culture.

My first car was cheaper than an Ipad. (69 Chevy with a 67 283 engine)

There has been a nearly 20 year push that portrays the use of an automobile as being a primary contributor to the problem of global warming and the killing of polar bears and the automobile companies are surprised that the generation that has been the subject of this continuing propaganda aren't buying cars? Really?

The government is sneaking them across the border, the new Car Czar is calling it AutoWalking.
We are trying to catch illegals driving back across the border in prius's loaded with 15 people or more.

They haven't made a car worth writing a song about for decades.

The old ways are just that, old. The idea of having the same job for decades until you retire is dead. The promise of investing in a retirement account is dead due to the greed of Wall Street. Over 50% of marriages end in divorce. Children has become in control of their parents. People live so long that respect for their elders has become a joke as the elders just sit and bitch about the young people as they slide into dementia and Alzheimers. Young people are told how stupid they are by people that tell them gay marriage is destroying America. They are told that marijuana is as harmful to them as heroin by the politicians keeping it illegal because it would take money out of the pockets of big pharma. They are harassed about their style of dress, sometimes even shot and killed because of it. They are lied to constantly by politicians that are only looking out for themselves and those that give them money. Education funding is slashed for defense spending and tax breaks for the very wealthy. Many young people see their parents and grandparents living the way they were told to to secure the American Dream, only to get burned in the end when someone can't make money off them anymore. Their parents and grandparents health declines and they see the monumental bills pile up and destroy everything they worked hard and played fair their whole life for because health care costs have gone through the stratosphere and all the politicians want to do is get rid of SS and Medicare in order to pay for wars on the other side of the world and put more cash in corporations that in turn give it to politicians to give them more tax breaks and subsidies so that the executives can fly their private jets to their second summer homes.

I think young people have the internet which allows them to see through all of the bullsh** of those elders that they are supposed to trust and have been spoon feeding BS to the masses for quite some time. It is getting easier and easier to see through the web of lies that the politicians who are in charge spread everyday. Even the two party system is becoming more at risk with the us vs. them mentality that they themselves perpetuate. The internet is causing a generational split and the young people are looking towards the future, where the elders are only concerned with now because of their shorter time that is left.

Maybe they don't have jobs. No money, no car purchase.

Car sales have increased in the US lately but the average age is still eleven years.
