Crooks of a Feather Flock Together
April 01, 2012

You know the TaxMaster’s guy on teevee, Patrick Cox? You know the guy who says he will make sure that the IRS treats you fairly and with respect? Well, not so much TaxMasters. The familiar bearded TV pitchman for TaxMasters – Patrick Cox – was convicted today of defrauding customers and ordered to pay $195 million. An Austin jury found him guilty of deceptive trade practices.

Now this would be just another example of greed bringing down another Republican fat cat who made their money off society’s most vulnerable people during stressful times in their lives, except for a couple of things.

* First, in typical Republican fashion, TaxMasters filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection one day before the jury trial was set to begin.

* And second, Cox is a major contributor to Gov. Rick Perry , donating $100,000 to the Republican governor’s re-election campaign in 2010.

The Perry campaign says it still hasn’t decided what it’ll do with Cox’s donation. Really? You’ve got almost a million dollars in your campaign account and you can’t decide what to do with $100,000 of money that was stolen from people?

You’re a spherical jerk, Rick Perry. That means you’re a jerk no matter what way I look at you.

Dang... Some things are SOOOO predictable....

..Oh, yeah, insert standard irrelevant "They did it too" b.s. here: ___________________________________

Per the Post this morning, Obama also had a troublesome female donor who defrauded people so she could send money to the man.

I didn't want to dissapoint you. Crooks of a Dem feather flock together, like Blago, and Obama's other Chicago buddies.

The case against TaxMasters was filed by the Republican Texas Attorney General, Greg Abbott. The Texas jury trial did happen and they penalized Taxmasters to the tune of $195 million just last Friday.

"A Perry spokeswoman said the ruling had just arrived and that the campaign is looking at what action it might take on Cox's donations."

Seems a little early to jump to conclusions. But I guess Rick Perry didn't do anything to stop his Attorney General?

Must be a slow day on the outrage circuit. If taxes were simpler, these companies would not be draining the economy and taxpayers who are intimidated by the tax code and IRS.

And LJ, I think you forgot the link to give credit the source article that you over-quoted as usual. Probably the Puffington Host no doubt.

Here's the link for ya, don't say I never did anything for you. :)

Because I have to... it wouldn't be a Lady Jazzer thread without a little "you to"...

Top Obama campaign donor accused of fraud

WASHINGTON (AP) — A major donor to President Barack Obama has been accused of defrauding a businessman and impersonating a bank official, creating new headaches for Obama's re-election campaign as it deals with the questionable history of another top supporter.

The New York donor, Abake Assongba, and her husband contributed more than $50,000 to Obama's re-election effort this year, federal records show. But Assongba is also fending off a civil court case in Florida, where she's accused of thieving more than $650,000 to help build a multimillion-dollar home in the state — a charge her husband denies.

Pelosi wanted to drain the swamp, to help her locate more illegal donors to hit up for money?

duhhhhhhh.

I once was talking to an older CPA and asked him what he thought about Congress's new plan to make taxes simpler. He just laughed, "every time they threaten to do this, it actually becomes more complicated and I gain more clients."
