A week ago, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a black kid named Tyrone Woodfork severely beat ...an elderly couple, a Mr. & Mrs. Strait, who had been married for 65 years. Tyrone RAPED Mrs. Strait, and she died of injuries received at his hands. Mr. Strait served in the 101st Airborne during WWII. NO national media carried the story. Tyrone was arrested yesterday.
I supposed that if Mr. Strait had shot Tyrone, the whole country would know about the story. As it is, only Mrs. Strait died, so it's not of interest to Brian Williams and the rest of the main stream media media.
Think about it. After 65 years of marriage. After serving our country. After 90 years of life, Mr. Strait has lost his wife to a rapist/murderer. NO ONE in the national media gives a flip. They are only interested in their wonderful black hero, Trayvon Martin.
If Tyrone had been taken into custody, then released because he claimed self defense, then I am willing to bet there would be a whole lot of media attention and outrage. Painting an apple orange doesn't mean you can compare it to an actual orange...but nice try.
Actually you can compare any color apples to oranges all day long.
It is always interesting to see which stories go national.
For instance, Colorado this year has had a record number of people die on the slopes and it has no national buzz.
Considering ski visits are down because of the poor snow and safety should be up because so many more are wearing helmets, I thought this would be a bigger story. 20+ should be huge.

Did you read the links? I saw no mention of a rape. If the guy raped her he deserves worse.
What about the Arapahoe Co Sheriff, Patrick Sullivan, getting 30 days, and 2 years probation for all his crap. Meth for sex, possibly HIV positive? Juvenile porn in his possesion? The media is reporting on it.
Please Martin...Do you know how many violent crimes are committed every day in America? You can't report them all in 24 hours. How much bad news do you think they can pack into a 30 minute news broadcast anyway?

A lot of revamping needs to be considered.
13% of the worlds population
25% of the worlds incarcerated
We need to invest in infrastructure, not more prison cells for old queers.
I'm sure someone will point out that Mr. Strait looks like "one of them Eyetalyuns" and therefore no crime was committed because black on Eyetalun assualt, rape, and murder isn't really a crime.
I'm not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV but, why can't we subtract race from the event for a moment and just concentrate on the violations of the law before considering the motives? What are the events that took place prior to the assualt, rape and murder? Was party A verbally assaulted by parties B and C or did party A charge parties B and C unprovoked? Based on the evidence we have, party A is to be charged with assualt on parties B and C as well as the murder of party B. Leave the motives for the action of party A to the trial, I'm sure that if party A was a member of the Black Panthers or if parties B and C where members of the KKK it will come out in the trial and collected as a part of the investigation.
The press chooses the words they use to report that a black guy raped and murdered a white woman and assaulted her husband, since their motive is to increase ratings and sell papers (not that news papers are a growing industry) too many media outlets take the opportunity to be as inflammatory as possible. I'd rather read news that states the facts, not the emotional, politically correct opinions that sells news papers and boosts ratings.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
