Report Shows Romney Hiding Assets from Public

Obama campaign renews call for transparency after report shows Mitt Romney hiding assets from public

In the wake of yesterday's Washington Post report that Mitt Romney is exploiting a loophole in federal ethics laws to hide the details of his holdings through Bain Capital, the Obama campaign is renewing its call for transparency from Romney in a statement from campaign manager Jim Messina:

“Mitt Romney has asked Americans to elect him President based on his experience as a corporate buyout specialist. Each week, new questions are raised about whether he took unusual steps to avoid paying his fair share in taxes. Today’s report suggests that Governor Romney is exploiting a loophole in order to shield his assets and investments from public review.

According to The Post's report, Romney has claimed he is exempt from reporting the details of his investments made through Bain because of his past ties to Bain. Normally, federal candidates are required to disclose the underlying investments made through other companies, but Romney claims an exception to this rule because of confidentiality agreements with Bain. As a result, his disclosure documents don't provide details on what companies he has a financial stake in through Bain.

Several outside experts across the political spectrum, however, say Romney’s disclosure is the most opaque they have encountered, with some suggesting the filing effectively defeats the spirit of disclosure requirements.

Golly, so many off-shore accounts, and so little time. I wonder what Governor Clueless has to hide?

You are interesting LJ.....You know how bad Obama is, and you can't back up anything he does, so instead of talking up your guy, you just attack the other guy. "Don't vote for my guy, he is a loser, but Vote against the other guy, because he is more of a loser". 4 more years of full throttle over the cliff, or the Conservative alternative....possibly changing course and missing the cliff. Maybe not, but better to try a new horse. This one isn't working.

Attacking is a sign of weakness. You got nothing....so you attack.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

Oh, I plan to quote any source I find to show how weak your candidate is. You post anti-Obama stuff all day...I think a little "balance" is healthy. So, the campaign is in full-swing, and I'll continue to point out the non-existent qualities of the GOP empty-suit-of-the-day.

Looks to me like if you guys are getting so defensive about your candidate then the ones who are worried that "you got nuthin'" is you.

And that's all Obama can do now, attack instead of showing his list of accomplishments (or lack of)

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

You don't post anything that adds to a balance. You post vitriolic rants and broad-brushed bigotry... all tinged with personal attacks and schoolgirl tizzy-fits. And you wrap that all in a vicious begrudging of what others have and what you want to take from them.

Personally, I don't post any anti obama stuff. Obama is the weakest candidate in many many years. I guess you might as well joint all the mainstream media in slamming Romney. As I said, Obama has accomplished nothing good in 4 yrs. 4 more years will likely not be something we can recover from economically. I'll take any horse over Obama. Too bad he didn't admit his massive failings, and decide not to run, and let Hillary take a shot at it. At least we would have a chance with someone else.

I'll debate any issues....attacking does nothing other than drop you down to a schoolyard fight.

We got nothing? At least we have ideas. Obama presents nothing. He doesn't rebut Ryan's budget, he just attacks it. He has no idea how to balance a budget. Obama can't even pass his own budget in his own democratic controlled senate. What does that tell you?

It tells me you aren't listening to anything other than the usual right-wing news-sources, because as usual, your charges and accusations are wrong.

Actually I think Obama has a pretty good chance of being re-elected. But it is funny what the press values in a candidate. Doing drugs in college and possibly after, it is all good. Not revealing all your assets? Clearly a high crime and multiple felonies. Mitt Romney is a clean living guy who doesn't smoke nor drink and has stayed supporting his wife through her bout with cancer and her continuing fight with MS. Obama smokes, or did smoke.

It iwll be amusing to see how low they go to attack Romney. And the funniest thing? If Romney does win, I expect him to be a moderate and more bipartisan legislation will pass for both sides. Under Obama, nothing is getting done, no budgets approved. Goverment constantly facing shutdown. Dems, sure your guy won, but what have you really achieved?
