I try to think and they had zero influence, old party money won, I don't get it.
The repubs sold out, no real referendum.
Biz as usual.

I agree, the old money did win out....mainly because the young tea party people weren't in a position to run for prez yet. Unlike the people who voted for a completely inexperienced Obama, I think people need some experience before being Prez. Obama has proven that is true, since he has been an inept leader from the beginning. We will see in 4 yrs, regardless of who wins now. Who knows...the path we are on is suicidal. Maybe Obama wins and we run straight over the cliff. Maybe the conservatives win enough in the house and senate to block the insanity, and we can hold on till these young conservatives are ready. Maybe they get corrupted...who knows.

Crap,vs, crap, the Tea party got co-opted big time.
Third party is the way to go, get moving!

As we get closer to the election more and more people will put on their political partisan whore hat. Happens before every election.

Was Santorum (the point of this discussion) the Tea Party candidate? I thought Newt was.

Santorum was always the "Christian conservative" candidate...and although there was some overlap between the religious-right and the teabaggers, he never really got the teabagger support. In the absence of Michelle Bachmann, Newt was the main darling of the TP...(At least, until he dropped that line about "right-wing social engineering.")
