That would be the SECOND thing I want... To see these vigilante ALEC/NRA-inspired "Stand Your Ground" laws ground into the dust. "Protect your castle"/"Make My Day" laws protecting yourself in your home are one thing... "Make your neighbor's day"/"Stand your ground" is something else.

Hopefully, this will lift the rock and shine the light on these distortions of vigilante justice.

I also hope this gets used as a tool to register a couple of million new voters... In spite of the voter-suppression laws, this could be a major tool to see to it that new voters are registered to make their anger felt at the polls.

As if the Zimmerman case was a wide spread and common event....(unless of course you look at black on black crime which gets zero coverage).

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

The law as it was intended (and I have serious doubts over whether or not it even applies in this case) is a good law. I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of legally armed citizens would do their best to retreat from a situation rather than have to stay and potentially deal with the consequences, justified or not. You can't legislate for every idiot out there. Part of being a free society is, unfortunately, having to deal with folks who make poor decisions.

Ah, sorry

You don't get to bet on my kid living or dying because some inbred cracker feels threatened by him..Some men (look at the right wingers here) feel threatened by just everything in this world

Yes, it's already illegal for a kid to take a gun into a school and mow down his classmates, yet somehow it still happens. You'll never live in your utopia LJ, it can not exist.

Why exactly did Florida need this law? Self defense has always been a legitimate defense for taking someones life if the circumstances warranted it.

According to some FL law makers this had nothing to do with the SYG ruling, and they want to wait and see if the LAW makes a case in the aparent 2nd degree murder case, involving the 2 people.
