Hatch attacks teaparty

Hey LJ, this is one r you might want to send $ to.

....................................................
"The answer: Americans participating in the democratic process. Hatch’s threat was directed at the citizen activists — some 15,000 in Utah and 1.5 million around the country — who are shining a bright light on his record in the Senate and raising serious questions about Hatch’s commitment to economic freedom.

Some of Hatch’s attacks have been aimed directly at FreedomWorks, the grassroots group I’m the president of, which he insults as being “run by two libertarians who don’t really believe in the Republican Party.” I’ve been called far worse than “libertarian,” and I know FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey has too. It happens when you come from the Republican wing of the Republican Party. And we can take it.

But when the senator turns his fire on his own constituents, everyday Americans who are disappointed in their elected official’s record, he’s gone too far.

“Some of their disciples here who are Utahn say they’re not Republicans but they are going to take over the Republican Party,” Hatch has said. “We don’t want radicals to take over our party.” Radicals? Isn’t that what Nancy Pelosi and President Obama call us?".............................

Why? I dislike Hatch, and I loathe the teabaggers... May they both rot in h*ll.... They deserve each other...

Perhaps they can bring in Christine "I Am Not A Witch" O'Donnell and Sharon "Second-Amendment Remedies" Angle to help?

I was thinking of the "lesser of two evils" choice. It might be your $ that could put Hatch over the top. If he looses a tea partier wins. If too many get elected it will be the end of your world.

If he loses, a Democrat could run... Nevada has already proven they won't elect a teabagger...

Yeah, I think I'll send a few bucks to Pete Ashdown.

The old days of Rick Santorum being proud of all the pork he got for Pennsylvania or Orrin Hatch charging Microsoft with crimes to protect the software companies in his district aren't going to fly anymore with the TEA Party faithful.

But what LJ says is true, if Dan Maes, the Utah version, gets nominated, would it have been better to keep good ol' boy Hatch.

I heard Hewitt talking about this the other night, but didn't get to hear on which side he was, incumbents who are easily re-elected or true blue diehards. I would think Utah would be willing to elect the diehard since the Dems are so weak there.

....Nevada may still elect a Tea-bagger. Isn't Ensign's old seat up right now?

You missed an opportunity to put teabagger in a sentence..you're slipping.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

At least we are attempting to effect a change. Perhaps the TP has learned something in the last two years and will better vette the candidates. Seniority is a big deal in the senate and we will throw it overboard in the interest of change. We see it as change for the better, you see it as change for the worst. Are you doing anything to make changes that you see as good.

A comment from a TP person re:Hatch, "Maybe a slaughtered RINO will be a lesson for the rest of the herd."

You?

IMO:
The money backers of the "tea party" have big bucks and I feel have used folks that truly believe in a smaller gov't to game the system. If the mainstream Republican does not go along with the agenda, then the sugar daddies put up a *paid for in full* challenger, that will go in and do exactly what they are told to do by the special interests instead of representing the PEOPLE. How many folks are simply not running this year because of this?
Citizens United decision is turning the country over to a few privileged interests. They are counting on the fact that most people do not pay attention to what is going on.

If you want to hear something that is truly amazing on how much time politicians spend on fundraising instead of governing, this is THE BEST AUDIO you can listen to this year.

http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-a ... for-office

Prologue.
Host Ira Glass plays a voicemail containing something very common but very rare to hear: an elected official directly asking a lobbyist for money. (4 minutes).
Act One. The Hamster Wheel.
Planet Money's Alex Blumberg and NPR Congressional correspondent Andrea Seabrook take a tour through the world of money and politics, discovering just how much time members of congress spend raising money and which committee assignments yield the biggest campaign donations. They also try to figure out what all this money is actually buying.

For an interactive map of Washington DC fundraiser locations, charts of the best and worst types of fundraisers, and other online extras, visit Planet Money's website. (27 minutes). http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/

Act Two. PAC Men.
Everything about political fundraising is changing right now, because of the 2010 Supreme Court decision in Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission. Since then, "Super PACs" have been able to funnel huge amounts of anonymous money into races. Producer Ben Calhoun shares the example of Ami Bera, whose run for Congress was dramatically affected by money from a Super PAC. (15 minutes).

Act Three. The O.G.s
Ten years ago, Congress voted to reform campaign finance, after Senators John McCain and Russ Feingold took up the cause. Here they reunite on the radio, to reminisce and lament how that reform failed. Senator Feingold is author of the book While America Sleeps. (7 1/2 minutes).
