This is not going over too well in the hinterland.
Across country, black pastors weigh in on Obama's same-sex marriage support
Washington (CNN) - Addressing his large, mostly black congregation on Sunday morning, the Rev. Wallace Charles Smith did not mince words about where he stood on President Barack Obama's newly announced support for same-sex marriage: The church is against it, he said, prompting shouts of "Amen!" from the pews.
...
"We may disagree with our president on this one issue," Smith said from the pulpit of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington. "But we will keep him lifted up in prayer. ... Pray for President Barack Obama."
...
In Baltimore, Emmett Burns, a politically well-connected black minister who said he supported Obama in 2008, held an event at Rising Sun Baptist Church to publicly withdraw support from the president over Obama's same-sex marriage support.
...
Black pastors who preach in favor of same-sex marriage know they may pay a price if they take Obama's position, says Bishop Carlton Pearson.
It's interesting, I can't find anyone using the same language and rhetoric against these black churches as you can easily find being used against the Christian right. Why? Are these black-bigoted-flaming-anti-gay-fundamentalist preaching a different message about same-sex marriage than their conservative counterparts? Why isn't this stance by black ministers (ergo: black church goers) hate speech?
More hypocrisy from the political left. You betcha.
(Disclaimer - I support same-sex marriages. I have no political or religious against it.)
lol Good for Newsweek. Let's keep this front and center. Nothing like pissing off religious groups across the nation, regardless of color.

I'm not trying to be critical Bill... but I didn't start this thread so conservatives on 285 Bound can make sophomoric retorts about President Obama. I started this thread to find out why the left has already given the black fundamentalist a pass. When the christian right churches speak out against same-sex marriage (or any gay issues) the left is screaming "hate speech" and all sorts of other epithets, maligning conservative religious people. Here we have the same situation... black ministers in black churches saying they can't support this pro-same-sex position that President Obama has "evolved" into.
The left has gone silence on this issue... which I feel is typical of the hypocrisy of the left. And as you can see, this thread has been up for about 3 hours and there is not one liberal able to weigh in on the subject. Why... because they don't have an opinion. There is no way for them to logically cover their asses on this.
Um, liberal leftie press prefers to attack Mitt rather than waste their venom on Christian minority churches and possibly lose their votes for Obama and other "D" politicians running.
Just like I prefer to not waste my breath on the idiots who think the US federal goverment could maintain a balanced budget without exceptions.

Fred... this thread is not about balancing budgets. I guess we don't have to wait for Lady Jazzer's thread deflections... you do a good job on your own.

You are correct sir, I retract my post so that the liberals can respond with a more respectful and logical argument. My bad.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
