"This is distilled from a longer item earlier today, at the suggestion of my colleagues. It's a simple game you can try at home. Pick a country and describe a sequence in which:
•First, a presidential election is decided by five people, who don't even try to explain their choice in normal legal terms.
•Then the beneficiary of that decision appoints the next two members of the court, who present themselves for consideration as restrained, humble figures who care only about law rather than ideology.
•Once on the bench, for life, those two actively second-guess and re-do existing law, to advance the interests of the party that appointed them.
•Meanwhile their party's representatives in the Senate abuse procedural rules to an extent never previously seen to block legislation -- and appointments, especially to the courts.
•And, when a major piece of legislation gets through, the party's majority on the Supreme Court prepares to negate it -- even though the details of the plan were originally Republican proposals and even though the party's presidential nominee endorsed these concepts only a few years ago.
How would you describe a democracy where power was being shifted that way? "....................
Does have an "Idiot Son" ring to it, doesn't it.... I would describe it as the "GOP Playbook"....
Details?
It happened.......2000....the supreme court gives the presidency to Bush, and the rest, as they say, is history.....and a not very pleasant one to remember. Will we ever get out from under the yoke Bush put on this country.....some days I seriously wonder if we can. The stage was set and the country has suffered for it.

The first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem. A Bush Did It syndrome. It's curable, but you have to take the first step. Actually, all kidding aside, your constant Bush this and Bush that is actually becoming chronic... and all one can do is laugh at you.

Actually, I would love to forget that Bush ever existed......that not being possible I rarely bring him up here....I think you have me confused with someone else. Now, that being said, the OP was all about Bush and what happened from the day he was named president by the Supreme Court. Are you really so blind that you cannot see that in the OP?.....maybe you should lay off the :Koolaid: for a while and see if those little brain cells will recover.
"She said it grieves me so to see you in such pain
I wish there was something I could do to make you smile again
I said I appreciate that and would you please explain
About the fifty ways…
She said why don't we both just sleep on it tonight
And I believe in the morning you'll begin to see the light
And then she kissed me and I realized she probably was right
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover
CHORUS:
You Just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free..."
