No more proof is needed on this issue that the Obama admin does not support this countries immigration laws. Bush did not either far as I am concerned. So instead of enforcing the laws on the books, now unless they meet certain requirements (ie felony, etc) ICE will not respond to call from law enforcement etc. Why, cause the present admin says so. So breaking our laws by entering our country illegally is not enough of law breaking for the laws to be enforced. This also goes against his executive order that he put in place so there is going to be more lawsuits. The program known as 287(g) will no longer be used.
"Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced that the administration would cut off ties to Arizona's police and end provisions of seven 287(g) task force agreements that gave some Arizona police agencies powers to enforce immigration laws.
The vindictive, disproportionate response effectively isolates the state in terms of being far more stringent than anything the administration has inflicted on Burma, North Korea or Iran.".........................
Me thinks you have that bassackwards, as usual. What the Supreme Court said was that it was entirely proper, and constitutionally permissible, for States to help enforce the federal immigration laws, especially border States given the federal unwillingness or inability to do it themselves. What SCOTUS said was that AZ couldn't levy criminal punishments after Congress decided the penalty should be civil in nature. Singling out AZ in such a fashion is itself an act which is actionable in the courts. Seems like Obama and his administration are not liking the fact that the Supreme Court spanked them down in a unanimous decision which said that they exceeded their authority and are looking, true to form, to "punish their enemies". Very Nixonesque when you get right down to it.
Yes I guess Obama threw a hissy fit yesterday. Obama instructed Napolitano to coordinate actions with Attorney General Eric Holder to cease all Federal Immigration cooperation with all seven of Arizona's law enforcement agencies, city, county and state.
The Feds had pledged to allow state law enforcement agencies to act as surrogate immigration officers which gave the state's authority to arrest and hold illegal immigrants until ICE could respond and receive these invaders into federal custody.
I wonder if the state has the authority to order all worthless federal agents to leave the state - if there will no longer be any cooperation from them.
Tell all homeland security and all the INS agents they are no longer welcome in AZ. if they will not be doing their jobs.
Really dear - it's time to do something about both the bats in your belfry and the accumulation of guano in your cranial cavity. What the decision yesterday said was that AZ couldn't impose penalties that were harsher than that which the federal government was imposing. "Papers Please" was held to be constitutional - by a unanimous court no less. Every single justice participating in the decision said that Obama was wrong to prohibit local and state law enforcement officers from ascertaining the immigration status of anyone that they have stopped during the normal course of their duties.
If the current occupiers decide to end the program in all 50 States, that would be one thing, but to prohibit a single State from participating because the executive wants to throw a tantrum would not be something the federal government is allowed to do.
If I was the governor of Arizona- I would order all state law enforcement officials to stop all cooperation with federal officials on all matters of law enforcement until Obama recends his order.
