Sen. Rand Paul: ObamaCare Isn’t Constitutional ‘Just Because A Couple People On The Supreme Court’ Say So
In the wake of today’s big ObamaCare decision, Democrats breathed many a sigh of relief this morning, while Republicans were generally upset about their defeat. And then there were those who don’t agree that a Supreme Court ruling means a law is constitutional. Namely, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul. Just because “a couple people on the Supreme Court” say something is constitutional, he said, doesn’t mean that it is.
Paul issued the following statement:
“Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so. The whole thing remains unconstitutional. While the court may have erroneously come to the conclusion that the law is allowable, it certainly does nothing to make this mandate or government takeover of our health care right,” Sen. Paul said.
“Obamacare is wrong for Americans. It will destroy our health care system. This now means we fight every hour, every day until November to elect a new President and a new Senate to repeal Obamacare,” he continued.
Sorry I have to agree with Rand here. Just because the Supremes get to rule on if a law is constitutional doesn't necessarily mean it actually is. They do not get to write the document, don't even get to add ammendments.
And the Supremes have made some big errors in justice in the past. Using obscure law to make a ruling, like privacy rules to justify abortions.
I am positive if the Supreme Court had been loaded up with 9 hard core libertarians, the Dems would dismiss most of their rulings.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
You can "dismiss" it all you want... As of now, It IS Constitutional...no ifs, ands or buts....
Of course I realize you may be drinking from the PrintSmith "Revisionist History of the Sovereign Citizens of the Plutocracy of the Founding Fathers" playbook... But that doesn't change the fact that it IS Constitutional. Even your altered parallel universe won't make it different.
Exactly, if this ruling had gone the other way today, I can already imagine the scathing op-eds declaring that ACA is legally constitutionally and that the court ignored our founding document.

(But that's 2 points for 'socialists' in a sentence...)
At least when I call you clowns "sociopaths", it's true...
(Gee, we've moved from "Denial" to "Anger" so quickly... rofllol We might actually make it to "Bargaining" by July... Except it's going to require a 60-vote majority in the Senate to bargain... Dang...Hoisted on your own b.s. )
Rand thinks the civil rights act, SS, and everything passed since 1939 is unconstitutional.
That said , we need the cranks from both sides to keep the middle honest.
