The Department of Homeland Security has ordered masses of riot gear equipment to prepare for potential significant domestic riots at the Republican National Convention, Democratic National Convention and next year’s presidential inauguration.
The DHS submitted a rushed solicitation to the Federal Business Opportunities site on Wednesday, which is a portal for Federal government procurement requisitions over $25,000. The request gave the potential suppliers only one day to submit their proposals and a 15-day delivery requirement to Alexandria, Virginia.
As the brief explains, “the objective of this effort is to procure riot gear to prepare for the 2012 Democratic and Republican National Conventions, the 2013 Presidential Inauguration and other future similar activities.”
The total amount ordered is about 150 sets of riot helmets, thigh and groin protectors, hard-shell shin guards and other riot gear.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

This is shocking! 150 sets of riot gear to be used for both conventions and the inauguration. (They call it "masses of riot gear") They must really be expecting some big time rioting. :rofl
It must be true. Russia Today is Otis' most trusted news source.

Well as usual you just try to discredit something without checking, and since it is all over the various news places, IT IS TRUE.
I quess the next step is for DHS head Napolio, to have all veterans band from the conventions, I could see that coming after her letter to law enforcement.
Raees, It's 150 plus what ever the DHS already has on hand, unless you are directly employed by DHS or the GSA it's kind of difficult to know what they have all together. Credible sources are credible sources, if you deflect because the source isn't your favorite then your ignorance shines through your deflection.

Sorry, navy. I just don't believe Russia Today, which is who Otis quoted. I still don't see the big deal in buying 150 -- that's 150 -- sets of riot gear to be shared between two conventions and the inauguration. Even if it's true, which you say it is, it's really not that big of a deal. It's certainly not "masses of riot gear."
I also find it quite funny one of the biggest conservatives on this forum not only reads Russia Today but quotes Russia Today as a source for a story. If a liberal did that, they'd be called a communist.
Wow... You mean the usual protests at the political conventions that have been standard procedure since the 1960's are classified "civil unrest"---again? Who knew....
