If Obama Wins What Do You Expect From Him?

If he wins, he wins. It's attitudes like yours that are dragging this country into the pit...

It is good for you guys the Dems didn't surrender after the embarrassing loss of Kerry in 2004.

I expect the economy to improve, but that's regardless of who wins. It just can't stay this bad forever, can it? Whoever wins will get a gift so far as the economy goes, IMO.

Then again, I expected the economy to improve for whoever won the last election too. I was wrong, it just got worse. I don't recall a recession ever taking this long to turn around. But I'm not alone in that Obama projected we'd be at about 5.6% unemployment by now and he PLEDGED the deficit would be reduced by 1/2 as well.

Here’s what Obama said at the meeting on Feb. 23, 2009:

"Today I'm pledging to cut the deficit we inherited by half by the end of my first term in office," Obama said. "Now, this will not be easy. It will require us to make difficult decisions and face challenges we've long neglected. But I refuse to leave our children with a debt that they cannot repay, and that means taking responsibility right now, in this administration, for getting our spending under control."

The next day, Obama repeated the pledge, this time in an address to a joint session of Congress. "Yesterday I held a fiscal summit where I pledged to cut the deficit in half by the end of my first term in office," he said.

Is Obama keeping that promise? In a word, no.

So do you believe that the GOP has assisted with President Obama to improve the economy and the unemployment rate? Or have they been obstructionist in his plans? What are your sources for your statements?

Just because the Republicans plans on fixing the economy are different from Obama doesn't make them obstructionist. It means we tried it Obama's way for minimal gain and maximum cost and they would like to try something different.

I provided a source. Can't you read?

And no, the GOP hasn't helped Obama at all. Neither did the Dems help Bush. That's how bad it's become. If we can be honest, how have the Replubs been any worse than the Dems were with Bush?

But what has Obama proposed that the GOP blocked, that would of made a huge difference? All he has proposed have been minor compared to the deficit we face. The Dems have no budget, and haven't even suggested a fix for Social Security or Medicare.

Obama's tax fixes are weak at best. I have no problem going back to the pre-Bush tax rates, but why does Obama limit it to just those making over $250K? Why not eliminate all of the Bush tax cuts if he's really serious? Afterall, the Dems said they were just tax cuts for the rich. Were they lying, or otherwise they should propose eliminating them all?

His "Buffet" millionaire tax is a joke. It does next to nothing to cut the deficit. Pure populist politics.

Obama lacks the courage to suggest real fixes for Social Security, Medicare, nor the deficit.

Excellent post Pine- all these tax the rich fixes are small potatoes and a distraction to the real structural problems in the budget and tax code.

Regardless of who wins, dont like either of them,

I would like to see them be true to their oath of office. To support and defend the constitution, not make excutive orders to give free rides to illegals, or to make a order that by passes the law.

I would like to see thier admin be honest, and believe in the people of this country.

I would like to see Congress pull thiers heads out and start doing what they were elected to do, manage this country, bail the water out and right the ship. Get it back on a true course. Pull us out of Afghanistan. No more payments to Pakistan, or a lot of other countries that think we are thier milk cow. Start worrying about us, and let the rest of the world deal with themselves and lets see how that goes. Get the economy back on the right path to recovering.

My top choice, I want Congress to stop acting like a bunch of 2 yr old, get a budget done on time, stick to it. Follow thru on the across the board cuts, not just one dept. And if the cuts effect ones district oh well get over it and plan a recovering for that district.
